If he's isn't fired for this solely for it back firing on him that means our organization has no backbone

No, if you let a person get by with breaking the rules because of who he is, and punish another for doing the same, you have no backbone.

You are 110% wrong.  If Cam broke the rules and doesn't get punished, that is how you lose the team.

Depends on what rule he broke.

If it was a big deal, I get it. But the NBC folks said "minor team rule". If it's something piddly, that may not fly so well.

When you throw in what an absolute disaster that first play was, you'd better have a solid justification for it.

Well, it would also depend on the circumstances.  If there had been numerous violations, and Ron got fed up and told the team the next one gets punished, and it just happened to be Cam, then its a fairly solid justification.

Fwiw, its highly unlikely we will ever know the full story.

It doesn't matter what the rule was.  We are the organizarion that have Smitty, as much as i love him, absolute free reign over the organization despite assaulting three teammates (effectively ending two of their careers) during his tenure here.  He answered to no one but JR.

If Ron had any respect left in the locker room at this point, I'd be amazed.  I know some of the guys have spoke out for him publicly in the past, but the Superbowl and then this season should've been the straw that broke the camel's back.  Blowing that game in Oakland last week should've negated any goodwill he had left.  Then benching Cam for a "minor violation of team rules," immediately resulting in an INT and an impending media shitstorm?  fug him.  He'd an idiot and has to go.

I'm not expecting to.
