Norwell is 6-6 and looks every bit the part of a left tackle. 6'6, long ass arms, 310 pounds. 

Considering how well and often he pulls, the Panthers must know he has quick feet. Norwell has left tackle experience at Ohio State where he started numerous games at the position. The guy has done nothing but prove he can handle anything thrown at him so far, so why not throw a bit more with no pressure, just for shits and giggles? 

Remember, Norwell would have never even had a shot at playing to begin with until an injury forced Rivera's hand. 

Nope I like the work he puts in the interior we just need to draft a LT replacement.  Cam struggles more with pressure from the interior.

I don't think Norwell is nearly athletic enough to play tackle. He best attributes are his strength and nastiness which works amazingly well on the interior. That doesn't cut it outside where you need nimble feet and athleticism to handle edge rushers. He did play some OT in college and does have pretty close to ideal arm length at 33 5/8"(34" is ideal), but his athletic testing numbers were really bad.

I think he could get by with technique but ultimately you'd just be looking at another OT that struggles mightily against speed rushers which has been our biggest weakness for some time now.

Yeah I don't think when they say quick feet theyou are talking about the same qualities that allow him to be  decent at pulling.

Honestly, right now I'm open to just about any suggestion that gets Remmers out of the LT spot. It's tough to imagine someone doing worse.  It's Byron Bell all over again.

We know what he is at OG. What's the harm in finding out what he can do at LT? It's a helluva lot easier to find capable OGs than it is capable LTs. We have a very good tandem of OGs that consist of a 3rd round pick and a UDFA. That same approach has been a colossal failure at OT.

Basically... what's the harm? I'm not concerned with disrupting OL continuity.  Injuries have done that for us and surely (hopefully) next year's OL will look a lot different.

His whiff on Mack was the game breaker. He may have been OK outside of that but it was pretty bad.
