realistically, a good agent probably doesn't get a deal done with Gettlemen for Josh (not saying Josh's guy was good).  But big money was simply there to be had....and an agent got it for him.

That's the thing I think Josh wanted to be the highest paid CB in the NFL on the panthers.

In my opinion I don't think Josh wanted to be the 3rd most popular panther.

Look at the Dallas game when they gave out the All Iron awards, Josh was making rabbit ears behind the players who won the awards. The NFC Championship game he crashed the fox set. In short he wanted more attention.

Look at him now MNF opening, magazine covers, TV deal. I believe he wanted more attention & the biggest contract.

Well we've seen Gettleman's negotiation skills in action. Low ball and totally lose the guy with no compensation. Fuuuuuck.

..the decisions hes made this year has me worried... but then again...3 playoffs and a superbowl appearance...he better show some of that 50mil bling in his purse in 2017...

There's a big difference between a KK tag scenario and a Josh tag scenario. Josh was never in our long term plans. He was never going to get an extension here, so the tag would've literally been a 1 year rental. With KK it could be used to get a longer look at him to make sure we'd want to pay him. Plus Josh was being a distraction. They would've been happy to keep him on the tag if he had signed it and actually showed he wanted to be here without a distraction. I don't know KK's thoughts but I doubt he'd respond the same way as Josh.

You don't win Super Bowls by overpaying players. If KK's asking price is unreasonable we won't keep him, and we'll let some dumb team overpay him.

I never said overpay him but a reasonable price for both parites, but teams that win SB usually spends a good amount of CAP and are stacked at certain postion.

That's not exactly up to us...

It's scary that he can't even acquire the players we need to protect Cam. He has to know that Cam is basically his meal ticket, and we'd be the Cleveland Browns with his GMing and no Cam.

You said the above.

And then you said the above without even a hint that you detected the irony.

It's one thing to say "I think Norman would have come down a bit"

It's another thing to say "Norman would have come down a bit"

Do I need to go on with this? It's kind of boring.

I'm interested to see what GMan does with Addison this offseason. I hope KK backs off his demands abit this offseason after his play on the field. But even a DT with 3 sacks so far in our average DL looks good. Let's see if GMan pulls another Norman or he actually haggles with KK and finds a median.

And for once, if we're not going to sign someone can we at least go the way of the Patriots and get something in a return?!

@AceBoogieAlso, the argument that "Blah blah blah Dave wouldn't have franchised him anyway."

Well, consider this. Josh Norman could've signed the tag. It's right in front of him.

It's like when your mom buys you some amazing candy that you love, but almost never get, and puts it right in front of you; all you had to do was eat it and it was yours.

But, you decide instead of immediately eating it, you decide to save it for another time, thinking maybe mom would get more at another time after waiting out a decent bit of time.

However, one day you get grounded, and your mom decides you don't deserve the candy anymore, so she takes it, and says you can't have it anymore.

It was right there. All you had to do was eat it, but you decided to wait it out, wanting more.

Josh Norman had that franchise tag right in front of him. All he had to do was sign it, and no one could do anything about it. But, soon enough, Josh's agent was acting like a fool, so Dave Gettleman cut loose.

He would have been at camp, he wasn't going to sit out the season.

Did his agent give that impression?

Gettleman talks to agents. Poo agents act stupid.

Stop blaming Gettleman for Josh Norman hiring a stupid agent.

Probably be better than Norman? That's just a wild guess. I'd much rather have Norman than KK. I think Norman would have come down a bit on the contract, but moron Gettleman tried to really low ball him. Need a new GM.

Didn't we offer him like 11-13 million per? Is that really a low ball?
