If we end up with a Top 10 Pick...

We still could grab Fournette in the 1st and trade one of our 3rd rd picks to the Browns for Joe Thomas and a 4th or 5th rd pick. Thomas would solidify the LT spot. Haven't seen DG trade prime picks for players but I think this is one he shouldn't ignore...

Exactly.  I'm so freakin sick of hearing of the Dallas line, when all it would take is trading for Thomas and a little luck in the health department to be equal to or greater than.

Fournette is a better prospect from the limited amount of stuff I've read (that's no shot to Elliot either- Fournette just might be that good)

The difference: we don't have Dallas' O-line

This.  There is a reason Fournette has been hyped as the next AP even when Gurley was coming out.  He's dealt with injuries and that whats dropped his stock down.  heck Gurley had his fair share of injuries Also APs only full season was his Freshman year due to injuries which scared some teams allowing him to drop.

Now you still need a OL.  Zeke is a good player but he's doing what he's doing because of that OL.   Look at AP,  he's up there in age but he's still one of the top RBs in the game.  He had 1,485 yards last year despite sitting out the previous season.  This year prior to injury it looked like he was running into a brick wall.  The Vikings OL is as bad if not worse than our OL (when fully healthy including Oher).  Fournette is not going to come in and change the whole offense unless we do something to the OL.  We do pick him up we have to cut Stewie to open that 4.5-5 mil to use on other needs such as OL

putting Thomas at T doesn't transform our OL to Dallas caliber

It doesnt transform us to that.  But still gets it up there.  Norwell, Stewart, and Turner are arguably one of the best interior trio in the league.  Williams while hasnt been good is in his 2nd year and is slowly improving.

That being said no way we get Thomas for a 3rd or even at all.  Thomas isnt going anywhere.  After all the heat the Browns have taken from everyone about dismantling the OL this past season getting rid of stud center and a core OG, leaving QBs out to drive getting hurt.  No possible way you see them get rid of him while getting a QB to develope.

I am torn between Fournette and Dalvin Cook.  I liked Fournette last year over Elliot.  My concerns with Leonard is injury history and has been with ankles.  JStew has the same ankle issues. The more I saw Dalvin Cook this year and with thinking how high Fournette will go probably to the Jags or jets before we pick, I say we trade down to the 15-18 spot pick up another 2nd or 3rd take Dalvin Cook in 1st, then take OL in 2nd or 3rd.  Tackle from ND or tackle from UCLA.

Where there's smoke there's fire.  And there's been too much fire in recent years regarding Thomas and Staley to think our possible high 3rd plus a day 3 pick wouldn't get it done to one of those teams with light years to go.

While the Browns said they wouldn't publicly, the 49ers literally dangled Staley out publicly.  The Browns may also go 0-16 and have two first round picks-the latter of which is from the Titans and I've seen used on Cam Robinson in mocks.  I can't imagine a top 75 or so pick PLUS another pick later in the draft wouldn't be enough for teams that clearly need to turn the page and put these men out of their misery.

Staley yes.  but the media and everyone have absolutley ripped the browns the last few weeks for the way the ripped apart that OL.  Some said no QB should go there.  I know many fans joke and say that, but when the media and people advising kids start saying that its very very bad.  Thomas right now is the last guy on that roater now they are going to part with

I find this draft not as weak as this past draft, but close.

NFL drafts are beginning to be like the NBA. Teams rather trade away picks for a certain player (NBA trade picks for veterans). Example, LA Rams (Goff) and Minnesota (Bradford).

In past 2-3 drafts, there just  hand full of guys that you can say are legitimate 1st rounders. These early projected high rounders are falling off the board by draft days and guys from nowhere are being drafted in the 1st and 2nd: James Bradberry, Artie Burns, William Jackson.

Your best OT or OL in general in 2017 is Cam Robinson. He's not even a top 10-15 pick at the moment. Fournette is being hyped up so much but I really don't see a top10 talent in him + the injuries.

The draft used to be so stacked at every positions from 2012-2013 back.

I don't know if talents are being ruined in colleges or due to the fact that the NFL is changing its game to Arena Football.

Then it's Staley then.  Give up the 2nd if you have to as long as they also give a high day 3 pick back as well.  Without making the move it's white knuckling/wishing on a shooting star at the LT position-not worth it.

Both teams have publicly said that those guys weren't available. Pretty sure Hue Jackson was adamant about that and even Thomas said he wanted to finish his career there. Sometimes smoke is just the poo the sports "journalists" make up to fill their twitter feeds. I'd love to know of the last top LT that was traded. It's not Madden, it doesn't happen. Look at that other silly thread talking about signing to tackles who had already resigned with their teams. Trading stud players (not Sam Bradford) doesn't happen much at all.

Jason Peters maybe.  Although Clady wasn't in top form he and likely others since.  But all scenarios are different in some way and in this case you're talking teams that are YEARS away from contention, and with very few assets to help lift them up out of the muck.  Neither player would be around when they'd theoretically be in contention, obviously why it makes sense, and should happen.
