So has Todd Gurley in the NFL , that's what happens when  don't have other threats on offense. BTW I'll take coaches opinion over a Huddller. Its called the eye test and seem to be blind.

Discrediting my opinion with a comparison to a college football coach is pretty witless. You can have your opinions and the rest of us our own. Regardless, we have no impact on who Gettleman drafts in the Spring.

You mean a coach who has to game plan and prepare for and has sent talent to the NFL.

Oh OK

I think he did go BPA as well. Remember all the talk about DT being the deepest position, well there were 20 CBs taken in the first 4 rounds, 5 in each round. So, almost 1 of every 6 players drafted in the first 4 rounds was a CB. I remember Gettleman after the draft stating that he thought is was a deep CB class. I'll agree it was a huge need as well, but I don't think we reached. Bradberry was the 9th (I think he was 2nd to last) CB taken and has played very well. He wasn't going to be there in the 3rd as much as people on here want to think he would have lasted.

Given we were going to use Butler as insurance and leverage against Short it was a need as much as BPA. As for the corners they were need all the way. I think we did reach for Bradbury and Worley which could have been easily mitigated with a veteran corner signing.  He says BPA but he knows who he is signing long term and who he is going to target in FA so it isn't really BPA but BPA at a position of need based on scheme or how we intend to use someone. Sometimes it works and other times with a player like Shaq, it is questionable when our first rounder plays fewer than half the defensive snaps. And yes I know Shaq was considered Thomas Davis's replacement eventually.

Exactly. Imagine what Jstew and Cam could do with that kind of protection and run blocking.

Sent from my iPhone using CarolinaHuddle

Cowgirls have "THREE" 1st rounders on the line blocking for a 4th round rookie QB.

Panthers however have none unless you want to include Michael Oher who was drafted in the 1st by Baltimore.

Ryan Kalil (IR) - 2nd round by Hurney

Trai Turner - 3rd round

Andrew Norwell - UDFA "damn lucky"

Mike Remmers - UDFA who been on "4" other teams before landing a starting job here. Got ROASTED by Von Miller in the SB and still found a way to hold a starting job.

Dave Gettleman and Ryan Grigson = trash

Fournette is AP all over again. Watch both of their highlights, look at Fournette's vision and tell me if Stewart could create holes like that. Sometimes when you're a RB it's more about hitting the hole before it closes or seeing something the defense doesn't expect you to do. For instance look at how many runs Adrian Peterson has had and you sit there and go, how the fug did he do that ? I see the same things in Fournette honestly.

Our OL is not bottom 5. If Dallas was on their 4th C, 3rd RT, 2nd LT and 2nd RG, they'd be in bad shape as well. Imagine Dallas without Smith, Frederick and their backup C, having Martin playing RT, a practice squad guy playing C, Free playing LT and just losing Collins as the backup RT. Leary is the only guy still playing his starting spot.

Do you still think Dallas would be top of the heap in that situation?

We were a top 5 rated OL last year and started this year with the same 5 and Williams has looked better than Remmers at RT. If we upgrade in the draft with one of the top 2 OTs at LT, I think we are back to a top 5 OL.

Not last year did we?

We were top 10 in sacks per pass attempts, and we used more max protection than any other team in the league. How exactly were we top 5?

Btw even when both Kalil and Oher were healthy this season Cam was getting sacked and pressured more than almost every QB.

First of all being a top five O line was due to our running game which Shula revamped last year and Cam avoiding sacks and playing like an MVP.  They made the O line much better than they were much like Brees makes his line better with his quick release.

Dallas has a dominant line in spite of their quarterback not because of him. The issue isn't whether they would be hurting with all of our injuries so much as they were much better to begin with and honestly their backups are as talented as some of our starters.
