If we end up with a Top 10 Pick...

How do you define difference maker?

I wouldn't traditionally define Michael Orr as a difference maker. But the offensive line looks a lot "different" without him. (Obv Gettleman didn't draft him, just using this as an example to define difference maker)

I tend to ask myself a simple question.

Based upon their draft slot, were they a good pick.

You'd get some to disagree with the following but I think most NFL teams and scouts would agree with it.

What you look for....

Top 5 pick: You want them to be perinneal all pro's.

Top 10 pick: Probowlers

11-20: Good players, a Probowl or two.

20-30: above average starters.

2nd round: average starter.

3rd round: below average starter.

4th-7th: depth and special teams.

Based on the above...

2013 : Star: I would say he's a good pick. Not a great one. I don't know that he has pro bowl potential, which was one of the qualifications I listed it.

Short: He was an all pro last year. He's not as disruptive this year and he's still outperforming his draft slot. Excellent pick.

2014: Benjamin. Good pick. He's an above average starter. We want him to be great but he's only flashed that potential so far. If you held a 2014 re draft, he'll go where he was drafted or slighty higher.

Kony: based upon his pick slot he should be an average starter and right now he's not starting at all. He's flashed but failed to be consistent. I'd list him as a poor pick, but not horrible.

Turner: excellent pick. No paragraph needed.

2015:

Shaq: doesn't get enough playing time, but I'll list him as a poor pick anyway. I'm confident he's a baller, as is most Panther fans, but he doesn't see the field enough for me to list him as a good pick yet.

Funch: would have listed him as a fair pick except that we traded up for him. So I'll list him as poor.

2016:

Too soon, too soon for 2015 to be honest but I did it anyway.

So that's his record drafting in the first 3 rounds so far. I think it makes him a good but not great drafter. If Shaq proves to be what we think he is, it'll bump him up some.

Turner has regressed this year

He is but remember the other freak RBs he's compared to.  Gurley was hit by injuries his whole career at uga then topped it off with the torn acl.  Peterson's freshman year was his only fulls season.

Peterson played 11 his sophomore and 7 his junior year.  Fournette 12 his sophomore and 7 his junior (still has bowl game left)

Well Peterson has been hurt off and on his entire career. Gurley, still too early to tell

He looks good ...we need to make a call at OT and roll with it...

I watch most of NDs games (my wife's family went there and are huge fans) and I can tell you that he played like poo in a lot of games this year. I would not be shocked if he stays in for a fifth year. I think he was red shirted or something like that. I'm a heels fan so I don't know everything about them. I just know, he should have went out last year.

Said he was staying=wishy washy at best about playing with the big boys, coach said he was more comfortable on the right side and has to grow into the left, high strung personality with numerous penalties in pressure moments=#*|| frickin NO as a top 10 pick, plug and play LT for this franchise that MUST take no prisoners in 2017!!!!!

Maybe he'll be a great LT one day, who knows, but he is Exhibit A among multiple draft and FA choices that define white knuckling/wishing upon a shooting star to protect our franchise-when the Browns and 49ers DO have a price (everyone does) for Thomas/Staley, and common ground can be found within reason in a win/win trade for a RELIABLE short/medium term solution.

RB is not a position I would draft in the 1st round. Too easy to bust, too easy to find talented players in later rounds. Leveon was a 2nd rounder, David Johnson in the 3rd. Devonta Freeman in the 4th. Jay Ajayi in the 5th. These are just recent picks. So yeah, don't reach for RB.

I want to draft the best player available, like I always do. The Panthers defense used to be feared, not so much anymore. I won't dismiss a defensive pick just because we've done it a lot recently. How good is Marshon Lattimore? People seem to like him at our spot, as both a BPA and something we really need.

On a side note, I'm jealous how the Raiders basically bought a great O-line to put around Derek Carr. That's what Cam should have had...

Yep...lol

If Fournette could have the impact that Elliot had this year I would like him.

Not gonna read this whole thread but we gotta go OT all the way. Look at DeMarco Murray as an example, averaged ~5 YPC with the Cowboys 4 years, went to the Eagles and dropped to 3.6 YPC. Elliot isn't as good as people think, he happens to run behind a top 3 Oline.

Hog Molly, Hog Molly, Hog Molly.
