If we end up with a Top 10 Pick...

Lmfao I'll never understand why people automatically think Gettleman is bad at drafting.  He's been pretty damn good so far

At drafting who?? His best pick was probably KK and most here want him gone. Then they'd say Star and most were down on him last year.

The best players on this team are the same ones that were here when Gettleman got here and hey look our record ain't much better either.

Oh i dont think we go OT in first rd. Takes a few yrs to develop.  I prefer free agent for o line help at the moment.

Maybe, but on other hand we need long term solution and we can't keep kicking this down the Rd...if we are biting  the bullet it needs to be more sooner than later...we need some good young talent at OT to develop...

Count me in on those not complete sold on Dalvin Cook.  I think he's 100% boom or bust.  Dude is a phenom in college, but like ncfan said, he does rely very heavily on his pure speed. A lot of his runs in college are boom or bust. Seems like he either gains nothing or 10+. Gotta love his homerun ability, but a big part of a running game is staying on schedule and keeping those chains moving.  Not sure if Cook is that type of guy. I think he may be better suited in the NFL as a change of pace, 3rd down type of RB. Think a bigger version of Gio Bernard.

Or... maybe he's the next Barry Sanders. Who knows?

As far as Christian McCaffrey goes, I won't be surprised if he ends up being a slot WR in the NFL. Or, maybe teams use him a lot like they used Reggie Bush - a lot of passes out of the backfield and sometimes splitting him out wide. Intriguing prospect, but you better have a plan for him.  If you draft him in the 1st round expecting to use him as a traditional every down RB I don't think you're going to get what you're asking for.

I don't know who we'll pick but I know the next five months will feature mock drafts which have us passing up exciting blue chip talents and taking Blandy McBoringson from Drab Tech so that the more exciting prospects can fall down the board to NFC East teams/New England.

Remember when mock drafts spontaneously had us passing up Star Lotulelei, a blue chip talent at a position of dire need, so the exciting new Orleans saints and their record setting QB and edgy coaches could get him a pick after us?

lol I hate mock draft season

Fournette is injury prone, no denying that

He is but remember the other freak RBs he's compared to.  Gurley was hit by injuries his whole career at uga then topped it off with the torn acl.  Peterson's freshman year was his only fulls season.

Peterson played 11 his sophomore and 7 his junior year.  Fournette 12 his sophomore and 7 his junior (still has bowl game left)

He would THRIVE with New England or Chargers

If the rb isn't the complete package I rather not waste a pick on them, we need a back who is a homerun threat and can pass protect but also can be a role in the passing game, if not then there not worth a pick in the first. Rather wait till the second round to start drafting o line help unless there's a guy there worth picking once we pick. OT,Wr,Rb,Te are all priorities on offense. While DE,CB,S, are all priorities on Defense. We need a flawless free agency and a good draft, next year will tell you whether DG takes winning seriously

If we end up with top 10, I think we pull a Belichick and trade back to get more picks instead of trying to swing for the fence with our 1st round pick in the top 10.  There isn't any 1st round tackles IMO, most of the top SS (Jamal Adams) RB Fournette will be gone, and top Edge rusher Tim Williams, Johnathan Allen, and Derek Barnette will most likely be gone.  In this simulation I did just this.  I traded the 8th overall pick to the Colts for their #14 in the 1st and their 3rd and 4th round pick.  Then at 14 I tried down pick #18 from the Bills and gained another 2nd and 3rd round pick.

Round 1 Pick 16 (BUF): Teez Tabor, CB, Florida (A)
Round 2 Pick 8: Royce Freeman, RB, Oregon (A)
Round 2 Pick 16 (BUF): Jake Butt, TE, Michigan (A)
Round 3 Pick 8: Dawuane Smoot, DE, Illinois (A)
Round 3 Pick 10 (IND): Isaiah Ford, WR, Virginia Tech (A)
Round 3 Pick 16 (BUF): Dion Dawkins, OT, Temple (B+)
Round 4 Pick 8: Conor McDermott, OT, UCLA (B)
Round 4 Pick 10 (IND): Devonte Fields, OLB/DE, Louisville (B-)
Round 5 Pick 8: Stacy Coley, WR, Miami (Fla.) (A+)
Round 6 Pick 8: Davon Godchaux, DT, LSU (A+)

RB is not a position I would draft in the 1st round. Too easy to bust, too easy to find talented players in later rounds. Leveon was a 2nd rounder, David Johnson in the 3rd. Devonta Freeman in the 4th. Jay Ajayi in the 5th. These are just recent picks. So yeah, don't reach for RB.

I want to draft the best player available, like I always do. The Panthers defense used to be feared, not so much anymore. I won't dismiss a defensive pick just because we've done it a lot recently. How good is Marshon Lattimore? People seem to like him at our spot, as both a BPA and something we really need.

On a side note, I'm jealous how the Raiders basically bought a great O-line to put around Derek Carr. That's what Cam should have had...
