Do you think Rivera would be in more trouble if he didn't luck into the division title in 2014?

I'm not on the Fire Rivera train or anything right now, but I do think his seat should be warm if we aren't a playoff team next year.  We went 7-8-1 in 2014, but lucked into a division title because we were in one of the worst divisions ever.  Normally 7-8-1 has you picking in the top 15 of the draft.  The fact of the matter is we've had four losing seasons in six years under this administration.  This year has been tough with all the injuries and tough breaks, but do you think the conversation would be any different if he hadn't lucked into a division title in 2014?

We didn't luck into anything in 2014. Yes, the division sucked. But we had to be on our A-game to win those last four games, and we did it with a terrible offensive line, little pass rush, and a bad secondary. And we gave Seattle a game in the playoff.

It wasn't luck.

Some say it's bad luck, some say it's coaching, some say it's the front office, some even say ownership. I say a combination of all but you start from the bottom up. When a company bottoms up you weed out the less significant employees to shake things up. Fire a few coordinators and see if that makes a difference, then go from there until you have a winning formula.

Could he be better at time management and game management? Absolutely.

But are there better options out there? No.

To be fair, he's one coach of the year 2 years in a row from what I recall, so I can say his job is safe. I do disagree with some decisions, but honestly many fanbases would talk about how much they hate their coach (i.e. Broncos with Kubiak).

Mind boggling how many people on this board see Gettleman as an issue, but not Rivera.

Gettleman should take some blame. But I put more blame on Ron Rivera and Mike Shula more so than anybody else. Ron has made some terrible decisions this season. Had he made the right choice even with holes in our roster. We would've won at least 3 more games with a shot at the playoffs. Play calling, time management, and not going for it on 4th downs has been downright shitty. So yes it's more of Pussyboat Ron's fault this year.
