At what record (point) would YOU pull the trigger?????

the front office is in love with Dungy, but he also had Manning, so you can't really use that. Dungy was awful on his offense in Tampa, though we're styled to what he'd want, and even though Dungy kept good defenses, people would rather have exciting defense than good apparently.

Tony Dungy has, in the very least, made huge turn-arounds with every team he touched. He has his own coaching tree branches in the NFL now too; Mike Tomlin, Lovie Smith, Jim Caldwell and Rod Marinelli. Obviously, not all made winners out of their teams but you can definitely see those coaches bring a level intensity through their coaching. Not necessarily their demeanor. I don't see Dungy coming back to the NFL any time soon though.

I'll keep him around if he uses the word "humdinger" in a press conference. He's been using the same terminology for eight years now, and he's willing to start using a colorful, vibrant word like humdinger when he gives press conferences now, it would show that he knows what's at stake, and is willing to do whatever it takes to right the ship.

Certainly. But if you negate one coach because he had stars, you can't say that the Manning-Wayne-Harrison Colts weren't on that same plane. That doesn't mean Dungy = Seifert = Holmgren = whoever, but certainly it never hurts to have stars handed to you.

That's a good point. He knows a good bit about the Panthers too. Question is, and I don't mean to hijack, what kind of system would that be?

WCO background but didn't really run it as a head coach.

Not in the "it's a WCO but he doesn't do dumpoffs all the time" ideal, what I mean to say is that he actually changed the terminology and approach. He never really held much offensive success in Baltimore, but he ran a great team and they did have a 2000 yard rusher in Lewis. You could say he had issues with assistants on the O side not being good enough, but he had Fassel and Neuheisel toward the end, too.

I wouldn't base it purely on a number. Losing seasons happen, even to good coaches, and for a lot of reasons.

I'd have to see something wrong at a fundamental level. If my perception was that a coach didn't really know how to properly scheme, plan or adjust and/or that the players weren't willing to go to war for him, that's when I'd do it.

I would say that pretty much describes the problem with John Fox.
