Both Glenn and Armstead have already signed big long term extensions.

The LT FA class is complete trash this year. Click the LT tab here: http://overthecap.com/free-agency/

Andrew Whitworth is the best by far but he is 34 years old and declining. The rest are terrible unless you think Matt Kalil is salvageable.

The two that are good aren't going anywhere. Villanueva is an EFRA which means there is zero chance he leaves Pittsburgh since all they have to do is offer the minimum and he can't leave. Nsekhe also seems to be pretty good but he is an RFA and Washington isn't going to let him leave since a cheap 2nd round tender will guarantee he stays.

There are some decent RT's though, but that's not really the position that needs to be filled with Williams showing improvement.

We have to draft one I would trade the 3rd round comp pick

Please someone tell Joe person to stop putting out articles recomending us to get Matt Kahlil for LT

PLEASE

Not that guy. We play too many teams that want to rush Cam to have a sub par line

Joe wants to do his "brothers " documentary.

If we are willing to spend, we can really help out our secondary this off-season. I'd pay Prince, Kirkpatrick, or Gilmore. I don't care which. And then Worley can play NB. Then grab Elam or Swearinger for SS. Neither should be that pricey and will allow Coleman to move back to FS. Back to Prince A., I do remember Rivera having a hard on for him in 2011, more so than Patrick Peterson.

The lineman aren't that great. I'll catch sh*t for this because it's a retread of Oher, but I'd bring in Luke Joeckel. Not with the automatic starter status, but with the idea that he can be a swing tackle depth wise and insurance in case we cannot draft the OT we need. On the defensive side, I'd take a flyer on big Margus Hunt.

Other than that, extend Klein and Norwell. KK can go, personally Butler can be better and I'm not paying KK 9Mil a year for hit and miss production. I just pray we can tag and trade him.

Gettleman Crystal ball prediction...

LT... Matt Kalil (backing up Oher who lets say hypothetically returns)

S: Matt Elam or Chris Conte ..we will end up with Harper or Nate Allen

CB: Captain Munnerlyn, Prince Amukamera.. (Mcclain and Johnson waived)... I can see B.W Webb..

TE: Luke Wilson and Gavin Escobar will be brought in ..in the end the crystal ball says... Mykel Rivera.

WR: Desean Jackson is my fantasy pick BUT realistically I see Patterson...maybe Kamar Aiken

DE: JPP should be the goal...Alualu or Upshaw. We have to keep Super Mario though!!

The draft is RB or DE first round. S or TE second and look for OT to be called with the Norman comp pick. Now flame away...

Jabaal Sheard is one guy I want as well. After having a great season last season he's not doing much this season. He's the perfect buy low candidate!

Desean Jackson is the perfect WR for Cam. He's an extremely better version of Ted Ginn. Just imagine the what Cam could do with a guy like DJax.

Another guy I'd love to see us sign is Cordarelle Patterson. We desperately need to improve the return game (punt and kickoff) and he's also proven to be a great gunner this season as well! He'd be another situational playmaker on offense for us as well, something we desperately lack.

In a perfect world Oher comes back and Williams takes over for Remmers. We draft Leonard Fournette and go with a Fournette/Stew combo next season! We have a ton of holes and this route (while being realistic) is the quickest way to make our way back atop of the division.

If Fournette, Peppers and Garrett are all gone, pending where we are drafting I like OJ Howard (mid-late) and I'm also beginning to really like Malik Hooker!

Also as it stands right now I couldn't care less if we keep KK. If he's still wanting stupid money then he can kick rocks. Norwell and Turner are more important and we have too many other holes to be spending all our money in one place.

That wouldnt be bad.  Jackson isnt coming here, he is going to require Big money.  I see him going back to the Eagles on a big deal.

1. Right now in a perfect world for me would be cut Oher if he doesnt retire. Sign little Kalil.  Upgrade over Remmers, could see him as a 2015 Oher.  Solid and gets the job done.

2. Fire Shula.  Our OL with a average FA at LT and a actual dscent coordinator can be big.  See our Vikings game this year.  We were all over Bradford in the 1st as much as teams have been on Cam all season.  Their OC adjusted to some quick slants and screens getting the ball out.  We barely touched him the rest of the game.  Speaking of getting the ball out, theres no coincidence last year (Cams best season/MVP year) he got the ball out of his the fastest in his Career.  It was pointed out multiple times.  Brady one of the tops in the games history has been so greag because how quick he gets the ball out.

3.Re-signings:  we have a nice core.  locking up Norwell and Turner is Huge.  We lose those 2 itll be as big a negative impact as Remmers at LT and when Kalil retires plus those 2 gone.  You think its bad now itll will become a nightmare real fast similar to the Browns OL this year.  Lock up Star, lets not make the mistake of letting a stud NT walk away like we did with Kris Jenkins.  Defense will take a huge hit.  Luke just had another concusion, last thing I want is a Fua in there letting OL get to the second level mauling Luke. Get KK that big deal but 4 years, front heavy.  Front Heavy contract will allow us to use him as trade bait etc come year 3-4 if/when Butler starts to ball out.

4. Trim Fat.  Tolbert Gone.  Dickson,  good receiving TE but terrible blocking TE.  We are paying him to much to sit amd struggle as a blocking #2 TE.  Stewart, was nice while you were here but finally can get out of this Huge Hurney contract opening a little over 5mil I believe.

5. FA's: DEs, Okafor and or Sheard.  CB: Captain and or Amukamura, WR: Patterson or Goodwin.  both speedy WRs who can return the ball.  We saw what Proehl did with Ginn, he'll do good with them. And the same time upgrade return game.

Draft:

1a: Jamal Adams-  Everyone keeps ignoring how BIG a need is here.  While Cam is getting Killed, we are still putting up points.  The ammount of blown leads is crazy.  5 of our losses this year we were leading midway in the 4th.  How many times do we have to see everyone point out the turnover differential between this and last year.  We did lose Norman BUT we still have the guy who was #2 in the league last year in ints (TURNOVERS!!!!!) its almost painful watching him at SS almost like Turner at RT yesterday.  The amount of times Boston is out of position is just about as painful.  That long pass to Crabtree wouldve been a pick last year with Luke on him and Coleman roaming the FS wouldve been a pick.

Mcdermott all but threw Boston under the bus in the post gamer for that Crabtree catch.  If you go back and look at the Julio disastor youll see Boston out of position a Ton.  Now to Adams, he's my favorite defensive prospsct behind Garrett.  He may not be a freak like Peppers but still a top athlete.  The thing that seperates him though is his knowledge, instincts, and Fundamentals.  Very similar to Luke.  Adams calls the plays from the SS spot in LSUs D much like a MLB would do.  This is big with our young Corners, he can be a lwader in the back for the thieves.  he's a Hard hitter but fundamentally sound guy who will wrap up.  Reads the ball Real well and has good ball skills. Very Very Very rarely out of position much like Luke, and in a zone D that is Big for a DB.  Adams at SS Coleman back to FS will turn this defense night to day.  The offense is putting up the points now the D can hold off for the W.

1b: Mcglinchey- more physical than the guy Baltimore drafted.  Read a thing recently talking how big it is for OL drafted is where they came from.  You notice ND OL have been fairly good, while some other guys such as the yearly top texas A&m guy snds up a bust.  Mcglinchey could come right in and be that franchise LT

2.  D'onte Foreman- Big RB with that extra gear. Allows us to release Stewart opening needed Cap for other guys.

3. Pat Elfein- think Norwell at Center. Other Options Jordon Leggett, Demarcus Walker, Solomon Thomas, Jeremy Sprinkle

4: Julian Davenport-  seen him high in a couple mocks but most have him a 4-5 guy.  Loads of Potential but real raw from small school who will be a project.

5. Freddie Stevenson-  Cooks lead Blocker at FSU.  Great athlete who can run and catch like we like to do with Tolbert.

6-7: Mack Hollins- tall fast WR who is raw, plenty of stuff for Proehl to work with.  Big thing is his special teams play though.  Has been a Big blocker for Switzer on many of his returns.  Got ejected last years bowl for targetting on a block (weak call though)

We lost all leverage of "Hey come play for a championship team we just went 15-1 and to the superbowl" with this offseason of sitting on our ass.

No one who seen carolina this year wanna come here... Media is roasting Carolina too so what or who reason is there?

I don't believe that's true. A lot of guys still want to play with Cam and Luke

Keep KK, Ginn, Cj, and Addison with the last 3 being team friendly deals.

In next years free agency we should target:

Stephen Gilmore CB age 26
Vance McDonald TE age 26
Matt Kahlil LT age 27
Jason Pierre-Paul DE age 27
Matt Elam SS age 25
Kyle Juszczyk FB 25

Draft: Leonard Fornette if top 6 pick. Draft Dalvin Cool RB if in 10-15 pick.
Then draft best OL or DL in 2nd. Then becuz it's so far Away BPA focusing on CB, LB, WR depth.

The worst thing is you have access to so much information and you didn't do any research. A simple search on overthecap or spotrac and you could've seen an updated list of 2017 free agents.

As for what I believe the Panthers are missing are numerous but #1 for me is a legitimate 2nd TE, particularly one who can run block effectively. The free agent class for TE's actually has some talent this year.

  1. Martellus Bennett(NE) - Probably a pipe dream but he's a hell of a player.
  2. Jack Doyle(IND) - The Colts who just spend good money on Dwayne Allen might not spend on Doyle.
  3. Vance McDonald(SF) - May be a better athlete than Greg and I've seen good things about his run block.

Would like any of these. Who is the best blocker of the 3? McDonald?

    • People comparing this deal to CMC, Williams, or Stewart is laughable, and I'll break the numbers down as to why: In 2020 We made CMC the highest paid RB ever. We gave him a $64 million over 4 years with $38 million guaranteed. That's $16 million on average. In 2011 we extended Williams, then in 2012 we extended Stewart. These extensions were 12 and 13 years ago: Williams - 5 years, $43 Million, $25 Million Guaranteed, Average of $8.6 Million per year Stewart - 5 years, $36 Million, $23 Million Guaranteed, Average of $7.3 Million per year Let me do the math for you: The Salary Cap in 2020 when we Signed CMC was $198.2 Million. CMC accounted for 8% of our total cap that season. The Salary Cap in 2012, when we had both Williams and Stewart under contract, was $120.6 Million. Those two combined to take up 13.1% of our total cap that season. Without the cap going up next season (and it will) Chuba is taking up 3.2% of our total cap. That's it. Not only are we paying Chuba HALF of what we were paying CMC per year, and LESS than what we paid Williams over a decade ago, shows how much less significant the contract extension is compared to those other moves. I really am not following how people are calling this contract a "big" money contract on a running back and a waste of cap space. This is a solid starting RB contract in the modern NFL.
    • Yeah Brown was shown to be a lot more important even in his second year
    • I remember some of those poor showings by Peppers but even in those times I don't feel like Brian Burns would be anywhere close to his level. Peppers was better than Burns in every way. I've never seen Burns even once show that he could take an entire game over and severely affect the outcome and for the money he wanted I sort of expect him to have that Peppers ability. I know our defense is weak now but I'm still glad he is gone and so happy we didn't pay him that monstrous contract he wanted.
