for all his flaws ron doesn't strike me as the passive aggressive type, and he certainly doesn't strike me as the type to cut off his nose spite his face, which is exactly what would be happening here.

Are we that desperate to surpress any criticism of Gettleman that we make laughable reaches like that?

Kyle Love is a far superior player at this point. The best players got jerseys. That's all there is to it.

Precisely that why he is doing subtle  (indirect)  protest that sends a loud message. IMO Gettleman should be fired.

Regardless of whose fault it is, this would be extremely unwise considering he controls whether or not Rivera has a job next year. JR may have not given G-man a choice when he was hired as a GM, but I would hope that (regardless of how you think he has done as a GM at this point) at this point in his career G-man should have final say. If this was any type of shot at G-man that it was extremely ballsy. And, I personally, would LOVE that.

We have room for 4 DT's on the active roster, Love is the superior player and that game was huge for our playoff chances. Choosing Love over Butler was simply the smart move for Ron to do.

Big Cat has final say around here IMO.

I don't think Ron was really taking a shot at the GM.  It more is what is....and an example of how Dave has drafted luxury picks in the first at areas where we are slammed with talent showing (and how it can be a poor use of an investment).    But in theory, I think if a HC here knew he had the owners backing he could get away with a little jab.

Nope the organization values Ron more BTW if anyone is going it's Gettleman

I get you, but we can play three LBs at a time. Why not do that of the situation calls for it. Especially in running situations?

We do play three LBs in those situations. It's just that there are so few of those situations in a passing league where 3 WR's is used the majority of the time.

and we do play 3 LBs at a time.....and that is when Shaq gets on the field.

but nickel is basically a base formation now in today's NFL because of rules.  Shaq isn't a CB.  All depend on the matchup but you simply don't want to get stuck in 4-3 personnel vs some teams in many spots.
