Look what happens when every player makes a solid block, even Tolbert.

Crazy how that works.

Tolbert has been garbage all year and this shows why. When he blocks well, our running game takes off.

We need a replacement. And not a blocking fullback. We need a guy that can run, catch, and block.

We've got solid players and quite a few stars. We're just not in step this year.

It's so true.  The offense has seemed out of sync in large chunks of many games.  Cam & receivers just don't connect far too often.  I've not looked at Cam's completion % since September, but I'm guessing it's his career worst.  I don't know how to apportion blame...  Cam / WRs / Shula & coaching / Oline injuries, but apart from a few moments of brilliance in several games where we see flashes of what we'd hoped for and expected this season, the O looks lost much too often.

It's true. We still make a few impressive plays per game, but just not with any sense of regularity. For a Superb Owl participant, we retained a huge number of our core players from last year, and on paper, there's really no excuse for this, especially at the beginning of the season before injuries really started popping up.

It's been thrown on coaching's shoulders but that just doesn't hold much water. If Shula was such a bad play caller, then last year it was the players executing so well that it made up for it. Our playbook hasn't changed that much, we see the same plays as before, just with less running with Cam. But no one has been executing. They've been playing tired, uninspired and soft. And that's from the QB on down through the offense. Sure the line play has been bad, but it wasn't exactly great last year, or the year before, or the year before that.

I think Cam spoke a lot of truth when he said earlier this year (about the head shots he took) that it's not fun anymore. And I don't think he was just speaking about the headhunting going on. His play has been reminiscent of those many games where he would sulk on the sidelines with his head under a towel. Those games when you knew he wasn't going to rally the team for the comeback. You know, that guy that never showed up at all last year. Or even after that truck wreck from the year before.

Can you put everything on a QB's shoulders? No, not when they are a Blake Bortles or a Case Keenum. But when he is the face of the franchise? Yeah, you have to. It goes with the job, especially when a team is built around you to make the most of your incredible abilities.

Sometimes I still wonder if he isn't in some way still sitting slumped in that folding metal chair, trying to get out of the spotlight while the Denver players are chanting around him. They made sure to remind him of it on opening night this year, to the point of assaulting him well beyond the bounds of the rules.

I'm not putting the whole blame on Cam, that sure wouldn't be fair. But I will say this, if he doesn't get back to being the guy he was before -- dictating the game and being the star of the show -- the team will never rise up around him and a few excellent players will wither on the vine.

There's no write in campaign to save the season, and no matter how hard you clap you can't save Tinkerbell. Cam's got to find it in himself again because, in the end, he is the magic ingredient that lifts the team out of the cellar and into the light.

    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
    • I would say maybe 8 in a tier by themselves and all but 2 where picked in the top of the first allen pat m stroud burrow jackson hurts (maybe) Herbert Stafford
