From Reactive to Proactive

How do we go from being a reactive defense to being a proactive defensive team? I know that right now, we're playing without our starting MLB and LT. We're also playing two rookies at CB. Our pass is good and most of our blitzes are telegraphed. So I'm more or less speaking from the LB and secondary positions. Both positions, aside from Luke and TD, react after the catch has been made. Our CB's gives a 10-15 yard cushion even when the offense needs 3 yards. Rookies, yes I know but that's what the Safeties are for.  Is it coaching, talent or experience? How do we become an aggressively proactive defensive?

If you think we've only been giving cushion on coverage this year, since we've been playing rookies at CB, I have a fantastic bridge (and oldie but a goodie) available for sale to you.

We didn't with Norman and Tillman last year.

I'd say that starts from the top.

It's a coaching philosophy. To change it you got to cut the head off the snake

I didn't say that were only giving 10 yards of cushion this year. I only referenced What we're doing this year...well because, that's what we're doing this year. But either way, the question is the same.

I agree but my question about that is Whois the snake. We've changed the HC and GM. So is it Mr Richardson or someone I don't know about?

Rivera is a Fox clone.

They one in the same. We thought we were getting a hard azz all guts no glory type with RR. But he turned out to be gutless when it matters most

Zone blitz more disguise man coverage stop allowing LBs to be stuck on the slot receiver put Boston back to ss and Coleman to fs Boston is the better blitzer and Coleman is better in coverage from the fs make Worley press more kick ealy inside on occasions like we did hardy roll ealy out in coverage and blitz Shaq blitz Thomas and Luke out of the nickel more cb blitz more like we used to with Norman and munnerlyn and last but not least just disguise coverage better honestly I can see what's going on half the time and what receivers gonna be open I think the opposing oc can too keep the same basic principles but Jesus H Christ disguise them like a professional should
