But, no, I have little hope. The Chiefs loss ripped my football heart out because we were building momentum, dominated them for three quarters, and then proceeded to sh*t the bed 2011-2012 style.

Why do I have such little hope? Injuries, our offense is only good for one half, and for as good as our defense has been over the years with McDermott we have had one consistent problem that nobody talks about. We are not a "closeout" defense. A lot of games we win come down to hanging on for dear life. And that's the lack of a consistent pass rush since Hardy leaving and lacking the impact Safety this defense needs.

 

As you are new here, I will be gentle. Nothing you brought up is new to us here on the Huddle.

 

So you are one of those fans. Even when we win, you ain't happy.

 

This Defense is playing lights out better than they were to start the year. But folks that are unhappy refuse to see that simple fact.

 

As a matter of fact. It is precisely because our Defense has improved, that we have won 3 out of our last 4. But hey, when you are unhappy, it is easy to ignore simple facts.

Yes, because W's give me hope.  Stats only explain the results and show the areas a team needs to improve.

Regarding the defense 4th qtr play, not all of that is on the defense.  In the last four, only two teams have really scored much on us in the 4th qtr, and with one of them (KC), the scores were a pick 6 and a fumble by a wr that turned into a fg.  New Orleans put a lot of points on us in the 4th, and while I am not excusing the d, they weren't exactly going up against a bunch of scrubs.

 

Also, while we complain about our defensive ends, and Shorts supposed lack of performance, the defensive line play is the least of our worries.  Top 5 in sacks and run defense means your defensive line is playing pretty well.
