Eye test: Charles Johnson

Let me start off saying I really, really, didn't have high expectations from CJ this year. As a long time fan of the Panthers and football in general, I felt like he signed that "final year(s), get a few bucks and contribute decently, contract".

I'm being a little lazy and not looking up the stats.  (which I normally do but turkey has me lazy)  Just from what I've seen this year, he seems to be making just as big of an impact as last year, if not more. I feel like he has had more of a presence on the field , maybe I'm just noticing him more without looking at the stats. Again, just the eye test or maybe it's the  turkey/wild turkey talking. 

What's your thouths without research?

Also, where is Ealy? I'm being serious..I thought he was going to be on Dateline the other night.

The less playing time Ealy gets, the better our DL and pass rush look. I don't think it's a coincidence, but unfortunately I think that Super Bowl performance was.

CJ is what he is. An awesome vet that can contribute what he has. What he is not is a young, spry body that can hustle every down.

CJ is our best DE this year. Part of me is sad saying that. Listen, I love me some CJ, I just wish we had a young stud on the cusp of replacing him. Or better yet. Two young stud DE ready to take over. Ah hellz, let's make it three if we are going there.

I don't understand OP... of course he is making as much of an impact this year ad last... he didn't do poo last year.... he is a average DE in the NFL, nothing more, always looked better when paired with a superior pass rusher opposite of him.

Johnson was injured most of last year, he is more healthy this year, and it has shown.  Him and Addison make a pretty good pair of DE's irt the pass rush.

My opinion is that he was often a ghost last year

Well I take before back, i thought hardy was drafted in 2011. 2010 and 2011, hardy didnt take off until 2012
