Breaking news!  Carolina Panthers just set a new NFL rushing record for most negative yards gained in an NFL game

Tolbert might not be as fast as he used to but he is a good lead blocker.   Part of why we brought him here and would be better than to freaking Read Option that provides nothing in our running game.

He absolutely sucks as a blocker

Tolbert couldn't lead block good when he was young.  He made his name running and receiving as a HB.

All three (Rivera, Shula and McDermott) are to blame in my opinion.

Meh, all goes back to a horrible Gettlemen offseason to me.  That is biggest reason.  Then you can talk Shula. Then Ron.

Well they will definitely need scapegoats...Rivera will have to throw someone into the fire

Voth also reported that Shula lobbied that teams would catch up to what they did last year and wanted the organization to provide talent for him to switch things up this year (he lobbied for the 2nd rec TE tonbe added so he can run legit 2 TE sets but our FO made no moves to improve either side of our team for 2016

instead we added a DT and tore our secondary apart

offense isn't broken...our OL is broke.  Better OCs than Shula can't actually fix what we are forced to use of late

Where have you read that Shula lobbied for talent and wanted to change the scheme to a scheme this entire board has wanted since Chud left?

My question would be, if this does go down, how much more will we have to wait for the offense to up to speed with the new OC's system? Also, would there be a new system? Will the new OC follow the Air Coryell or bring his own version of it or another type?

So many questions. From what I've seen it takes at least two years for a team to get used to a new system. That's everything that's included. Playbook, verbiage, formations, etc.

Look at our own NFC South. Tampa, ATL. ATL took a little to get used to Shanahan's system but they are a potent offense with basically Julio Jones and Shifty RB's. Tampa as well took a little bit to get used to they're OC's system and they have some really good talent as well. I dare say with our Talent we should be scoring 50 burgers on people (depending on the opposing defense) each and every week.

It's like I've said before, adjustment. There is non. They grab a lead and expect the other team to just give up or put the pressure on the defense to maintain the lead. With Kuechly out, they better adapt and adjust to score in the second half as well and run out the clock with power running.

Same guy that reported this....reported that

Voth reported yesterday that Shula said teams would catch-up and adjust to what they did last year.  Shula lobbied internally hard for a 2nd receiving TE to switch up the O.

Dave then drafted a backup DT and went on a panic DB run and didn't nothing in FA

just one of about 100 things that point to Dave

Except for try to sign Jared Cook.

You do realize we don't just automatically get whomever we want, right?  No team does.

If Shula is Terminated at the conclusion of the season.  who are possible sufficient candidates...

Norv Turner?  Hue Jackson (if fired from Browns?) I don't really see a lot of offensive coaches who are either HC or current OC's who would leave current positions...

Pat Shurmur : Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles (quarterbacks coach): 2002-2008
St. Louis Rams (offensive coordinator): 2009-2010
Cleveland Browns (head coach): 2011-2012
Philadelphia Eagles (offensive coordinator): 2013-2015

Doug Marrone: Jaguars

New York Jets (offensive line coach): 2002-2005
New Orleans Saints (offensive coordinator): 2006-2008
Syracuse Orange (head coach): 2009-2012
Buffalo Bills (head coach): 2013-2014
Jacksonville Jaguars (offensive line coach/assistant head coach): 2015

Hue Jackson: Browns

Washington (offensive coordinator): 2003
Atlanta Falcons (offensive coordinator): 2007
Oakland Raiders (offensive coordinator): 2010
Oakland Raiders (head coach): 2011
Cincinnati Bengals (offensive coordinator): 2015

Harold Goodwin: Arizona Cardinals

Central Michigan Chippewas (offensive line coach): 2000-2003
Chicago Bears (offensive line assistant coach): 2004-2006
Pittsburgh Steelers (offensive line/quality control coach): 2007-2011
Indianapolis Colts (offensive line coach): 2012
Arizona Cardinals (offensive coordinator): 2013-2015

Darrell Bevell: Seahawks

Connecticut Huskies (wide receivers coach): 1998-1999
Green Bay Packers (assistant quarterbacks coach): 2000-2002
Green Bay Packers (quarterbacks coach): 2003-2005
Minnesota Vikings (offensive coordinator): 2006-2010
Seattle Seahawks (offensive coordinator): 2011-2015

We had Oher and we had Williams who was supposed to surplant Remmers.   While I agree we could have address those positions with some better back-ups or someone to at least push the starters.  A possible upgrade to our #2 tight end.  I think Gettleman would have done better addressing the Secondary than the offense which doesn't address the whoas we have on offense.

Everything is hindsight.

Teams came out with the same game plan Atlanta had in our loss last year and what Denver did to us in the SB.  Take away the read option by smacking Cam as hard and as much as the refs would allow.  (apparently as much as they want).  Shula knows nothing different.    Our remedy will be removing Shula and the offensive staff.  I would keep Proehl.

That logically falls on the offer made and the GM. I love gentleman but turning off logic to defend him doesn't make sense

Yeah, you know Dave probably got into a war with himself on how little to offer Cook.
