the mental gymnastics to get around how using our first round pick on a DT is NOT investing in a hog mollie is impressive

I was talking about offensive hog mollies....which was a red flag issue last year we luckily schemed around successfully and got exposed at he end for

Dave needs to rephrase his catchphrase to DTs allow you to compete.

But thank you for recognizing the mental gymnastic skills

a running back is nullified if blocking can't hold up?! color me shocked! however did he make the probowl last year?!

I'll take 10 TD's from a #3 receiver, and Funchess is very talented especially in the red zone. we need to be able to use him correctly, which comes from...you guessed it! coaching!

he has different blocking last year vs. now?  Our run game disappeared when Kalil got banged up.   The overwhelming majority of his runs last year and early this year were up the gut. Stewart basically was the 2015 RB to open up the season.

In addition to the OL shuffle that shutdown the run of late, Cam also has been dialed back out of it making it even easier to stop Stewart.

Exactly, injuries and Cam not running as much are what caused the decline. Not talent.

well, injuries show what kind of talent you have on your roster as well.

but like I said Stewart, was very limited in where he could run to begin with.  Last year the run blocking was bad and they got to the point it was almost exclusively inside.  People bring up speed as why Stewart can't run off tackle but speed doesn't make those plays....RBs still wait on the blocks.  Any play outside the OT gets pushed back and divert the RB.

Last season we had to max protect to pass and only could run in select gaps.

When everybody bitches about how it's Dave's job to bring in talent, I don't think they really understand the how that works.  He doesn't just bring in guys and throw them on the coaches.  If the O-line wasn't addressed, it's was at the behest of the coaching staff saying they were comfortable with who they had on hand given their evaluation of their performance and what future potential to succeed they envisioned.  The way many here are suggesting it runs is not how Dave and Ron's working relationship is structured.

oh man that's really convenient, you're so right, we must just not understand.

hey how come we don't pinch more runners I really think we'd benefit

it has been pretty obvious that Dave has viewed himself as the smartest man in the room from day 1.  Dave isn't Hurney, he doesn't just do what a coach wants.  Dave is building his team, not Ron's.   Hurney was the opposite, he basically believed in giving Fox what Fox wanted and Ron what Ron wanted.

Since Shula is a hot topic, coaches lobbied for a receiving TE because of the counter they knew was coming to there offense.  That is just one instance of it reported as recently as yesterday.  Hurney would have just drafted Hunter.

If you think having an extra receiving tight end will fix Shula's offense, I've got some beach front property in death valley to sell.

Did I say that? I said Shula knew there was going to be a counter to the max protect scheme he used all last year and new Carolina needed to revamp (which means talent).  That was just one reported example

He also needed better OT play so he didn't have to max protect more than anyone in the NFL to survive.  The sheer fact Shula was forced to comically max protect to get off plays was a coaching staff basically screaming for talent on the OL (and they got none)
