The ramifications of Luke's injury are enormous.

I wish Luke nothing but the best of health, especially if that was the last game he played. Health is the most important thing.

The shockwaves this will send through not only the Panthers but the NFL is enormous. Kuechly is a top 5 player in the league. To see what happened last night was heartbreaking for fans. I can only imagine how fellow players felt. That could have been any player.

We will likely see a wave of retirements on the Panthers this offseason. It has been an emotionally draining season. Some that might be expected, and some maybe not as much. League wide, players are considering retirement younger and younger as the long term side effects of a career in the NFL become more widely known.

You can take it to the bank, the NFL is officially on the decline. Watching a marquee player possibly end his career on a Thursday night game, forcing the team to play on a short week that highlights the greed of the NFL, marks a new era of football. One where players will think twice before taking that cortisone shot and coming back into the game. One where a concussion can end a career. One where mothers won't let their kids play football.

Pick an MLS team now and look cool.

Enough with the knee jerk reactions already. Luke was shaken up, and very well could have been upset because he knew he would be missing some time. This concussion protocol is a good thing. He's not going to be sent back out there until he's ready. Junior Seau had, like 50 concussions. Luke has had 2. Can we please stop talking about the end of his career and Dan Morgan etc. until we at least get a few facts?
