B- in the first half. F+ in the 2nd half. The only reason he gets the + in the 2nd half is because Kelvin caught that ball and we held on for dear life.

I'm sure the Saints are frustrated with their OC today as well. On their last TD drive they were still running the ball and huddling up after every play. It was clear that our pass rush was gassed. Without Johnson on the field if they would've went to a pass happy hurry up, they would've straight eaten us alive over the middle of the field. If they score with around 5 minutes left (which was easily doable) versus only 3 minutes left, they probably win the game.

F+ lmao

Honestly watching the replay though. KB wasn't really open. Cam threw it in a hole and hoped he would grab it.

To me, Cam's best throw all night wasn't the final 1st down throw nor was it the TD throw.

I think his best throw was when, to throw around and avoid the blitzing DB, he threw a side-arm bullet to Olsen for a 1st down conversion at the 1-yard line.

Fine.  Shula isn't the problem.  This is a tired narrative

Everyone wanted Hue Jackson because of his genius play calling.  How is the Browns' offense looking?

Everyone wanted Norv Turner.  Is he even still employed?

If you can't run the ball and can't protect the QB it doesn't matter who the OC is, the fact that our offense is as good as it is is amazing

This^^^^^^

When Cam is protected.. Shula looks like a genius, when not, Cam looks horrible and everyone blames Shula.

Remmers is a decent backup, backup being key word.  Chris Scott is a backup.  Williams is developing.  Norwell has shown flashes of Amini Silatolu the last couple of games.

Also, everyone acts like Cam can do no wrong and it's obviously Shula's fault the offense is struggling.

People are blitzing damn near every down because the line can't hold up, and Cam is taking lots of sacks.   Until that gets fixed our offense is midling at best.

What's an OC supposed to do when your pro bowl RB can't even average 2 YPC?

This OL needs real hog mollies. It's incredible after this many years we have little depth and even when healthy they weren't dominant running the ball.

Get in guys that hold the LOS and scrap the read option we need to stop this finesse poo and also protect Cam.

You're letting Turner off the so much right now. He was a pro bowler and has looked average at best in the last three games.

The chiefs are 30th in yards per carry and that's after they stoned Stewart.

I agree. It just seems like so many times you watch the play and go "why would we do that right now" and feel like the cal either played right into what the D wanted to do or played into our weakness. Again, double slant with Funchess and Benjamin got us 20 yards or so. I don't recall seeing that pattern a single other time. That is a quick route where our big bodied guys can easily box out the defender and the OL has to block for a minimal amount of time. Seems like that plays into our strengths and away from our weaknesses.

I just think it is sad to think that on that 20 play drive, once we got to the 20 yard line and last night for the entire 4th quarter, we would have been better off kneeling on every play than what we ran. We would have beaten the Chiefs and the Saints wouldn't have even gotten the ball back for the chance to get a FG. They didn't do much with it or have much time, but they would never have had the ball without us having a 2 score lead. That, IMHO is the problem. With every weapon we have, we can't figure out some short passes that just work and don't lose yardage? You see it all the time with good offenses. They have plays that take a great knock down by Charles Johnson to not make it a ridiculously easy completion.

Its like if we can't run the ball our offense is dead until someone makes an unreal highlight reel play.  Theres only 8-9 pass plays that most NFL offenses run, they just disguise and change small nuances and formations here and there.  Theres no excuse for this inconsistency.  Shula needs to get fired so we can see what an accredited coach can do with Cam.

How do you adjust to having to play your third strong center who rarely plays any position, your quarterback is having an off day, you have an OLine that is a sieve and your receivers are dropping the ball on every series. Your run game is averaging 2 yards a carry and the opposing defense it blitzing and loading the box all night ? Exactly what adjustments do you make?
