You need the independent doctor's permission to leave the protocol. Until he clears that, he isn't playing, whether he wants to or not.

That hit did not look at all like a head impact, but a chest impact which jives with how it looked like he couldn't breathe.  Curious as to what's really going on with Luke.

He was acting weird after the play before....upon further review this looks like a cumulative type of issue rather than just one big boom that gives you a concussion. I also wouldn't rule out something chest related and irregular heart beat type of thing. Getting hit in the chest that hard can also produce similar effects to what we saw.

We know it's officially a concussion and he's in the protocol but there also isn't a "got hit hard in the heart" protocol.

It seems to me 3 things happened to Luke in quick succession:

1) He actually gets hit in the chin first. The right side of the chin. That's an MMA knockout punch.

2) He gets hit in the chest 

3) 58 gets him in the back of the head.

It's an awfully unlucky injury and I hope it isn't serious more than it already is.

I doubt there will be many updates while he is in the concussion protocol. Teams are discouraged from commenting on players in the protocol.

Maybe you're right but some of the hits Cam took looked way worse.  I know how tough Luke though and obviously it was a big shot for him to react like that.  I just hope he's alright.

I have had 4 diagnosed concussions. My fourth and last was a helmet to the center of my chest. I was disorientated and could not walk straight coming off the field. I saw purple and green for a month. No doubt Luke could get a concussion from his shot.
