marion barber will play

Marion Barber writes on his blog tonight that he will play Monday night against the Carolina Panthers at Cowboys Stadium.

It’s always good to have guys that can step in and play well when needed. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice are both really good backs. But my leg feels good and I’ll be good to go next week.

This can only help the Cowboys in a crucial game against the 0-2 Panthers. If the Panthers turn 0-3, they fall far behind early in any playoff run. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are trying to keep pace with the Eagles and Giants in their own division.

Barber led the Cowboys in rushing Sunday night, a game in which the Cowboys gained 257 yards rushing.

Jeopardizing Barber's health by putting him in, when they have two more than capable backs behind him is completely idiotic.

I think it's more of Barber saying he will play than the coaching staff confirming that he will. Either way, if he does, I don't expect him to get more than 5 to 8 touches.

And, either way, we've still got to deal with a talented backfield.

barber could end up getting hurt worse if he plays. considering how early in the season it is it would be stupid for him to play.

but...from jerrah's POV, MNF in the new home having a 2nd loss is a must not happen. this would be monumentally embarrassing for the cowboys to lose this game. i can see from that perspective this game being as important as a wild card game.

whoever loses this game will have set the tone for the rest of the year. i think the cowboys are actually more fragile than the panthers right now. the panthers are at the bottom and can really only go up. the cowboys are on a cliff looking down. i have more faith in the panthers being able to climb out of the pit than the cowboys.

TO sent out a tweet sunday night that said "Dallas just found out they had a T.R. problem not a T.O problem !!"

i hope we can capitalize on that before they capitalize on our mistakes.

I was staring to feel a little better about our chances on Monday until I read this little Odds and Ends tidbit from Carl Banks:

• While the Patriots may not be fast, they are among the best tacklers in the league, a point made by former New York Giants linebacker Carl Banks. “It’s almost the exception instead of the rule,” Banks said, lamenting the fact that so many teams exhibit such poor technique these days. “It’s only going to get better when the coaching gets better. You can see that some teams make it a point of emphasis, even if they don’t hit in practice like we used to. Pittsburgh, Baltimore, the Parcells teams like Miami and New England. But that’s about it … last year, I was shocked with how many tackles I saw Indianapolis miss because of poor technique.”

Yes that was our DC at Indy last year and Fox must not have looking at that same game tape I guess. I'm hoping for a win, but sadly expect a beat down.
