The Precarious Balance of the Charlotte Hornets

Kemba has been playing like a miniature version of Charlotte’s native son, Steph Curry. Walker is knocking down 3-pointers off the dribble as if they were layups, and pulling up with confidence from anywhere on the floor. He is averaging 25.8 points and 5.5 assists a game on 49.1 percent shooting, and shooting 47.8 percent from 3 on almost seven attempts a game from beyond the arc. Steph is the only player who has had a season like that in NBA history.

Batum has never averaged more than 15 points in his career, and his usage rate has exceeded 20 percent only twice in his career — it’s hovering just below at 19.5 after 10 games. Batum is better as a secondary playmaker, facilitating for other players after the ball has already been rotated, than he is creating his own shot off the dribble. Neither Zeller nor Williams has shown much of an ability to create offense for themselves, while Kidd-Gilchrist’s shooting has fallen off a cliff following multiple shoulder surgeries last season. With former shooting guru Mark Price now coaching in college, Kidd-Gilchrist’s jumper looks as ugly as ever, and most of the progress he made from two seasons ago is gone.

His shot form has regressed since Mark Price left but with the injuries last year it is not surprising.

    • great thoughts and all. What we know right is 100% Carter and Hunter will not make it to #8( without gasmask dead hooker ). Nearly 99.9% believe both QBs will go in the top ten. So the drafts starts at #5. Jeanty almost should go there, he's that talented and I hate hate hate using draft picks on RBs. But this is the weirdest draft in some years, so go bold/out of the box/space picks are in play.  I do feel #8 with have loads of trade calls, like vastly more than past years. Its a great spot for OT and there's 3 LT that could easily go there. If a team wants "the best LT" in the draft, you need to call Dan/Panthers.  There's about 20-30 players that could go 5-35. Many could be in the top ten range on a few teams boards and those same players could be in 40s on other teams board. This should be a great draft for playoff teams, cause the same level of players was picked 6th overall.
