Vick to play in first regular season game this Sunday....

Johnny Rockets

He's likely to have a major adjustment when it comes to the fanbase. That's for certain.

A pretty large element of the Atlanta fanbase was willing to fall at his feet regardless of what happened on the field. Even when the Falcons lost, as long as Vick had one or two good highlight reel plays, all was well.

The Eagle fanbase is a little more, shall we say, results oriented.

If he contributes to a win, they'll be happy. If he plays badly, not so much.

(and God help him if he ever flips off that fanbase)

Vick will always have his worshippers for certain. There will always be those who think he's God's gift to football and can do no wrong. Atlanta had loads of them, but my guess is he won't find that faction quite so prevalent in Philadelphia.

Vick is not a hero. Vick is someone who committed crimes and paid his debt to society and is very fortunate to have another chance in the NFL.

That said, I can see your point about Vick being a role model for prisoners.

But I certainly wouldn't call him a hero.

Back on topic...it will be very interesting to see how Vick is used in the wildcat formation.

Now if he stays the hell out of trouble for the rest of his life and is successful after football we can call him a hero for ex-felons.

Johnny Rockets doesnt view Mike Vick as a hero. Guess what, thousands upon thousands of people do (I guess thats why they will be giving him a standing O on Sunday). Its just a difference of opinion. There's people on this board who see General Robert E Lee as a hero. I dont. Doesnt make them wrong and I dont lose sleep over it at night. And nowhere did I say Vick was a hero for doing community service. I said he represents people who are felons trying to turn their lives around, and to those people he is a hero.

now i'm not trying to undermind you, but would it be fair to say his massive standing o in Philly is because of all the felons (in the stands)

by the way we all know dog fighting is nothing new, if he wasn't famous nobody woulda gave a sh*t

Answer me this Rockets, when McNabb comes back who gets the axe? Garcia? What was the point of bringing him in if you aint gonna play him?

I agree with what NC_Biscuit said....They would have been in big trouble last week if Kolb went down. They only would have had Desean Jackson and Brian Westbrook as QB possibilities had they not signed Garcia.

After everyone comes back I dunno.....Garcia would appear to be the odd man out but who knows. Kolb is Andy Reid's boy so I doubt it would be him, but who knows if he really stinks it up this weekend.

While i do think dogfighting should carry a tougher sentence i do agree with both statements.
