Is Shula to blame or the return of KB?

Just heard on First Take (I know I know) but they talked about Cam. They brought up an interesting point. What if Cam is just good. Not elite but good. Tier 2 qb like the pundits say. I am a believer of Cam, but what if he's just "good"? Maybe last year was a freak year. I'm not saying I believe this I just think it should be discussed.

We will never know until we decide to build around Cam.

No young QB has gotten less support then Cam, and it's not even close. It's a crime how this franchise has treated Cam.

Get a Ginn who can catch more consistently instill more confidence in Cam to spread it around...

True, but he spreads it around a lot already. He hit Olsen, Funch, Dickson, KB and Ginn on Sunday. I think he's been hitting different WRs all year.

I get you, but we still had Shula last year. If I'm not mistaken, we had the 16th best offense of all time as well. That can't be a fluke right?

I don't wanna say last year was a fluke, but honestly we had the schedule on our side. The OL, while not the greatest, was healthy as well. Shula has been good at times, I don't doubt that. I just think in order for Cam to go to the next level, we need a next level coach and coordinator. I agree w/the poster who mentioned building around him. We haven't done that either. So he will stay in this zone until change comes.

I agree with you. For arguments sake though; one could say we have built around him. KB, Olsen and Funch would make a lot of qbs happy. One could also say KB and Funch have been let downs.

This. He's pulled some tricks out of his ass but for the most part, Cam has not had the best support. When he got that extension, Gettleman should've made it a priority to build around him. Cam has made it happen too much and it's a crutch.

I think we've gathered the pieces, not necessarily built around him. Kelvin, Funchess and Olsen would make any team happy. Greg isn't Mr. Reliable for no reason. But how much of that falls on Ron and the coaching staff? Funchess and KB have been good but it's shaky. I don't think they lack the talent, but they need some developing. Is this the price we pay for a "young" team?

It isn't Cam or Shula or KB in isolation. It is someone making an error that erases a great play or someone making a boneheaded move like running into your returner and causing a fumble. It was a great throw for a first down that turns into a turnover which costs you the game. It is penalties which kill drives, sacks which take you out of field goal range. Worst case scenarios unfolding in front of your eyes. It is somebody screwing up in all three phases of the game. With any luck going our way we should have beat Denver, Tampa and KC. We are snake bitt. It is the curse of the black cat.

It isn't one guy screwing up, it is a bunch of guys all making mistakes often simultaneously.  Every week. It is injuries to key guys which hinders our ability to run our offense. Backups who aren't ready to start.

I have always said that Shula can do a good job when he has the personnel to run his offense. What is needed for a run heavy offense? Ask Dallas. Foremost a great offensive line.

This offseason we wasted an entire draft on defensive players and didn't sign a single offensive player worth noting. And everyone was fine with it.

That just goes to show how people have gotten content with Cam carrying the team on his back.

I've said before, but Cam is the reason a few people have jobs. Gettleman thought Cam has made it happen before, he can do it again. And I think it's unfair to him to be a franchise QB and have to work with what he has. He has to make the offensive line a priority. If he does nothing else, Cam needs some protection.

This is slightly off topic, but something that pisses me off is Rivera throwing Cam under the bus saying he needed to throw the ball away on those back to back sacks on the 20 play drive. No dumb fug, there was immediate pressure straight up the middle. He was still in the pocket, he couldn't throw the ball away.

Been saying this for 3 years, can't judge Shula or cam fully until we have the talent on offense, scheming hasn't been a issue this year, execution has, this team has yet to progress from cam being the majority of our rush offense . Love stew but we gotta get a homerun threat at rb, but in all fairness can't really evaluate him either with him having to break 30 tackles for half a yard. Gotta invest in the offense, then if Shula sucks can you replace him with a new oc who will have the talent already in place, same if we decide to switch the hc.
