Why do we even bother?

Why do we watch football? Why do we waste our short lives watching a pointless spectacle that ultimately has no bearing on our lives? Is it for the distraction? Is it so we can feel something, anything, in a world where is easy to feel numb? On days like today, where I find my day ruined because of an embarrassing display by my favorite team, I find myself wondering why I care.

I have loved sports all my life. But life is short. Too short to feel like I do today, after another pathetic display by the Carolina Panthers. Another loss, another wasted season, and another wasted afternoon of my life. I could have written a song with my afternoon, or exercised, or many other more productive activities that don't involve sitting on the couch feeling miserable.

Many of you might call me a fair-weather fan. I've supported this team through good times and bad for 20 years. I just needed to get these thoughts out to the people who may feel the same way.

Best thing to do is just take it like it is. View it as more of a hobby than something bigger than life. Whatever happens, happens. Don't let it get in the way of your life. If it's bringing you down too much, then take a break for a week or 2 or however long you need. Dont worry how others may judge you. I just flat out stopped watching halfway through 2010. I had to because it was becoming too much.

I'll be taking Thursday off, that's for sure. I can't keep watching this team and feeling this way

I feel fuging snake bit.  The final 2 drives exemplify how it is to be a panthers fan, Chiefs fumble and the ball goes out of bounds.  We fumble, and the game is fuging over.  We have never had back to back winning seasons and we can't build a fanbase like that, we end up with chief fans being louder than the panther fans in our own fuging stadium.  I, like you feel like I am wasting my time on something that apparently those involved don't give a poo about.  I just don't know man...Always 1 step forward, 2 steps back.  It's not worth it to feel this angry every weekend.

The turnaround begins when our owner replaces the shield at midfield with the baddest Panthers logo we can find.

Pfff, no, you better never get rid of that godsend from the middle of the field.  It's not like the NFL lets our franchise QB get his head kicked in, or fugs up calls in the superbowl when the ref's wife is wearing opposing team colors in the crowd, or have the panthers open the next season on the road to the afore mentioned team celebrating their victory over us, or penalize players for celebrating after a td but when an asshole PUNTS THE fuging BALL INTO THE CROWD, he's not hit with his rightful 15 yard penalty, or...should I go on.  fug the NFL and Goodell.

I watch for entertainment.

I think what you mean is why do we let losses bother us, why do we rip the refs and get irate, why do we let BS make our blood boil, why do losses ruin our week.

I used to be that way. No longer. Now I just watch for fun. Letting sports dictate your life is fiving retarded.

    • And we just started playing competitive football. Now look we beat a decent team. We can celebrate winning, it will be ok…
    • It doesn't matter if you give him a new WR1. To do it you have to devoted MORE resources to him. At some point you have to stop or there's nothing left for the defense. Our defense looks like scrubs because that's what we've got because we've spent a shitload on offense. He got a 1st round WR and a shiny new RB in round 2.  Bryce had a couple of good games but we are not competing against the Chiefs or Eagles. They're headed to the playoffs with realistic SB aspirations and we're headed to a top 10 pick. Those teams have competed for an entire season where the Panthers have ummm... They've almost gotten to as many wins as Matt Rhule in a season.  Would you rather have Bryce or Lamar? Because we've spent more on Bryce and to build around him than what it would have cost to trade for Lamar.  This team can't get better when it's having to devote everything to making it possible for our #1 QB god to play average NFL football.  I may end up being wrong and Bryce may become the GOAT. But one thing you won't see me doing is flip flopping on where I stand every couple of weeks because he has good or bad games. I think Bryce is our version of Daniel Jones and I think we're going to fug ourselves pretending he's Pat Mahomes.
