Report claims NFL officials don’t view Cam Newton as ‘real quarterback’

IF there is a bias against Cam, its not rooted in the color of his skin as much as it is his personality.

Its a lot easier to come to the conclusion that the zebras view his exuberance and celebrating as unsportsmanlike and childish and for that reason they are willing to see him taken down a notch.

The other qbs are not changing the game..they don't ave the potential that Cam has to be great and redefine the position ..race has a part just isn't the only reason for some of the refs..not everyone is prejudice but there are other reasons as well.

He is changing the game because of his size and running ability as well as passing, not because he is black and doing these things. The rules were put in place to protect qbs from bigger linemen to keep them from getting hurt. Cam is larger than just about anyone out there except for some DTs and a few DEs. I really think the bias is against his size and it wouldn't matter if he were red with orange stripes. After all there are more black players in the league versus white and he doesn't get the calls from black referees either. You can blame it on race if you want to but there are much better and simpler reasons he isn't getting the calls. Again I think they are unfair but then again life is surely unfair or I would be sitting in my mansion on the beach in Belize instead of taking a break from clients to post this.

Holy poo there are some chicken littles and conspiracy theorists in this thread.  Cam leaving?  Jerry and DG pushing everyone out?  If you actually want to put brain power into these thoughts and trace them to the facts, you will find that Cam's relationship with the team is fine.

I'm sorry, but that's poo, and I'll tell you why Dungy and Harrison made those comments. While Rivera has publicly stated that he supports Cam 100% about how he's being treated, he hasn't addressed it in the same way Cam has. There's a clear difference in the way Cam presented how he felt. There was actual emotion behind it. When I saw Ron's press conference about the issue, I felt nothing. It felt like generic PR poo.

I mean, Rivera gets heated up for some of the smallest poo at times but when it comes to Cam getting hit in the head 4x without a single call being made or him nearly getting his knee shredded (granted by accident), hes: "Oh yeah, I don't think that's right. I'll contact NFL officials about it. I support Cam. Next question"

Exactly this.

as i stated in an earlier post, i think the league is scared that Cam is finally developing into a perennial all pro pocket passer, and there's no way in hell you can have a black QB be a more effective pocket passer than the Lucks, Bradys, Mannings, and Rodgers of the football world, so the NFL decided not to protect Cam in the pocket hoping he'll become more of a runner, which essentially would fit the description of every other black QB in the league.

look, lets face it. Cam's strength, size, mobility, arm, agility, and his ability to read defenses is something the league hasn't seen yet. The Culpeppers, Cunninghams, Mcnabbs, and Vicks don't match what Cam is capable of. The NFL is terrified by this, and therefore are bending their own rules so he's not equally protected like every other QB. The proof is in the pudding, and I don't think much is going to change going forward.

I think you are about 25 percent right and I think the other 75 percent can be attributed to Cam's behavior.  If he didnt celebrate and smile all the time I think things would be easier for him.  Also dress normal.

i never had a problem with the Superman, but the Dab and the way he dresses kind of sucks to be honest.  I can understand the dislike.

Exactly what I said earlier, people think they own NFL athletes.  They think they should act the way THEY want them to.  Dress the way THEY want them too.

Nobody said that???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????I said it isnt as much racism as personality.  A large majority of people didnt care for The Golden Calf of Bristol praying in the endzone and wearing bible verses on his eye black.

They probably have children and understand the influence of an NFL athlete.  So they hold them to a higher standard.

Cant have that can we?

But the minute one decides to step out of line, they go out of their way to tear the person down. He's not doing anything to harm himself or others. Smiling, celebrating and dressing how he wants to dress does not and should not warrant targeting. People need to get over that. Newsflash, Cam is never gonna march to anyone's drum but his own. It makes people uncomfortable when THEY can't control him or his decisions.

So you are admitting it is all the things you are talking about and not racism? Thank you.
