Bradberry at practice. Do you sit Worley or McClain?

Bradberry hasn't played  in over a month. Let's hold off deciding who he replaces until we see how he plays. I figure all three will be active and playing  time will be decided by how they all play on Sunday. I doubt Bradberry is in football game shape yet. He will split reps with someone anyway.

I'm going to have to keep watching Worley because I like him a lot but can't help but think he's the new Tre Boston. I've seen several folks say he's balled out but literally every time I've watched him during a play he gets blown up.

I finished rewatching the 1st qtr of the ARI game to check out Daryl Williams, Kony Ealy, and Worly. Through the first quarter I saw Worley give a huge cushion to the WR (5+ yards) that was either ultra conservative coaching or ultra conservative play. Then he got caught looking at the QB and lost his man (fortunately Palmer didn't see it).

I think what bothers me is that he's looked at best serviceable and at worst fuging terrible.

Really hope I'm wrong... Getting both outside CBs for the long term in the 2nd & 3rd rounds of the same draft? Ok, I'll take that.

Yeah man, this dude had 11 tackles for a reason.  Because he was in front of the man that was catching the ball.  Let's try to be realistic here, guys.

Arizona went after Worley every time they needed a play last week and he let them back into it in the second half.

I sit him. Let McClain play.

Or maybe its cause we played prevent D in the second half like we always do? You guys act like you've never seen this before, it's happened all last season.

Do you guys not understand that that is our scheme we have been giving up large cushions in between the 20s once we move to the red zone we tighten up.  we also play a man up on the line of scrimmage and one way off look a lot. So that it the scheme not the players. Look at last year you will see the same things a lot. Our game plan is to use zone coverage and keep everything in front of us. allow short completions but keep the ball where we can let our lbs be making tackles and hope for fumbles or miscues from the opponent until we get to the red zone. Once there we man up our guys and allow the lbs to drop to help underneath zones. Its how we have played for years and you will see guys getting uncontested catches some  for sure, that makes any db look bad.

I'd say the only thing you expect from them in year 1 IS TO MAKE communication errors and look lost on the field.

If anything, you want them to show that they physically belong, while improving technically as the season progresses.

That is exactly what practice is for. Do that in a game and you will never see the field again until you correct it.

Rivera did that with every rookie ever.

Until this season when he was not given the capable vets to replace those rookies in the line up.

How bad do these rookies need to get beat before people realize they are a liability? They are not balling out. They do not have a ton of great plays. They are being exploited every game and the LBs have to cover up for their problems.

They have yet to learn to communicate and read the QB. CBs are a 3 year process. The only thing you expect from them in year 1 is not to make communication errors and look lost on the field.

The praise in this thread for Worley is mind numbing. He is a huge liability. Arizona went after him specifically in the 2nd half. He has to play 12 yards off his man just so he doesn't get beat deep. He should only be on the field when bradberry is injured or we are in a dime look.

Too many on here see his 11 tackles and think "man Worley played great". The truth is Arizona threw underneath to his side repeatedly.

I will give Worley credit for making the tackles and also the great pbu in the ends one though. Hopefully he continues to improve and eventually becomes starter material.

Worley has been solid and is the future of the position. Why in earth would you sit him on a 2-5 team?!

Worley hasn't been "solid" and has given no indication that hr has staying power as the "future."

As you just said, if you've given up on the season then you play Worley, but at 2 GB Im skeptical that the team has.Worley looking progressively worse each week as teams identify the weakness only reinforces that you play the veteran.

Theres really no reason to play Worley so I'm going to go ahead and infer that the people who want to see Daryl Worley continue to give up the big play are likely those who have given up on the season or just incredibly stupid posters like the guy on the first page who thinks the Rams have been playing Jared Goff.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
