you mean like Russell Wilson?

when asked today about Cam Newton's comments, Wilson said "If I didn't want to get hit, I would've played tennis".

just in case you needed a reason to hate Russell Wilson anymore.

Is there any audio or video of this?

"It's funny how a lot of people have a lot to say, and I know the style that I do play. When I'm running the football, I'm on my own. I understand that," Newton said. "I'm not dumb or oblivious to the fact that I run the football more than probably any quarterback that's played this game. And I'm fine with that.

In the pocket - that's all I'm asking for. The standard of every person getting the same calls, that's all."

Your thread title makes it sound dumb. "I think it's funny" doesn't mean that a person finds something actually funny - they mean more of ironic or SMH.

That Disney story is sad. My dad, good man and father, was an alcoholic. It was, to me, his only flaw. My moms had to do similar with him. I'll never forget my pop coming to see me at my college dorm, and he was drunk as a skunk. Mom had tried to keep him in the car, but he refused. I was embarrassed. I grew up knowing that after 8pm, if I needed him I was sh*t out of luck because by that time he'd be lost in the sauce.

Lol you're right about Cam and his crew being square. My girl grew up with all them and said that exact thing. Also, Cecil is a great father. He made sure Cam didn't waiver.

That's horrible. But I'm gonna guess you turned out okay.

Yeah, Cecil kept and still keeps Cam in line. He does it for all three of them actually. The most trouble that crew has been in have been speeding tickets lol. I've never seen or heard about them fighting and being sloppy drunk in clubs. It's hilarious when people paint him to be a hip hop thug because he's far from it lol. I'll give credit to his friends too for not making sure they're not bringing that to him. They never so much as respond to criticism of him, not his brothers or friends or girlfriend. I think that's also good in keeping him grounded.

Yeah I don't get this commentary about him as a runner either. He has routinely bulldozed his way to first downs running while taking numerous shots, and never says a word publicly. But when you try to give the guy a brain injury or go low at his legs in the pocket, that's just pure horseshit. I would say the same for any QB.

i feel like the panthers org and all us fans here are screaming out and literally everyone else (the NFL, other teams' players and fans) are speaking a different language. this season is so frustrating to watch in so many ways, but mainly it's because cam is getting shat on from all directions and this whole team seems hamstrung from doing ANYTHING about it.

he's completely lost, thinking that Cam's complaints about officiating are strictly about him as a runner even when Cam has reiterated several times now that this is about when he is in the pocket - and he understands that he's on his own as a runner.

So what does good boy Russ suggest? Cam start ducking and getting in the fetal position? Russ has it all backwards and I'd expect him to understand out of anyone because I've seen some questionable hits on him.

They are intentionally missing the fact that he is speaking about being in the pocket and not as a runner. They're playing dumb.
