Oher at practice. Do you bench Daryl Williams?

Oher was signed to an extension and Williams was drafted I assume to become the right tackle and still on his rookie contract. Remmers is on a one year deal. Play your future at this point just like with the CBs.

Let's not get this out of perspective. Remmers should move back to RT when Oher comes back. He hasn't done anything to lose the position.

This isn't Williams playing Dak Prescott to Remmers' Tony Romo.

But one could argue that Williams has done quite a bit to earn it.

You could also argue that Remmers has done better at LT than Oher had been doing. It's not a good argument, but when has merit ever stopped someone from making their case?

Best thing to do is to put Oher and Remmers back to their traditional positions on the line and THEN evaluate. These are the two that got us to the Super Bowl last year and they deserve the chance to prove themselves like the entire team is doing now. We won this week, but let's not get all "We're Worldbeaters" quite yet.

Honestly, whatever the coaches decide will probably be the best. They have infinitely more experience in evaluating these guys, knowledge of the playbooks and opponent and game experience than you or I will ever have.

The truth is that Remmers gets beat a few times a game, but he holds steady most of the time and every now and then he just manhandles a star D-lineman, like JJ Watt last year. He's a medium quality starting offensive tackle, who has had some big moments.

Williams is progressing but I don't think I've seen enough tape to say anything more than that.

I have to agree, it's time we let Williams have his shot. With remmers, we have someone that can step in right or left if needed (who knows how "healed" oher is). I also think he's our 3rd string center if Khalil's shoulder continues to bother him

It's a fine argument when Remmers has already performed for almost 2 seasons at a certain spot and Williams has stepped in and flat-out performed better. Remmers at RT is a known quantity (as you note) and if Williams is an upgrade then it's a fair comparison. To your Oher comment, Jeremy mentioned that Remmers has gotten more help at LT than Oher typically gets, making any Remmers/Oher comparison faulty.

The wild-card here that I don't know is how much assistance Williams may have had during his time at RT that Remmers didn't/doesn't typically get - chipping backs, TE double-team blocks, etc. If Williams' performance has been signfiicantly bolstered by those things then that's a different discussion.

My take is, nothing I saw in the game made me go, "Wow! Look at Williams over there doing that tackle thing!" He may have been performing great or not. It just really never was something that caught my eye. Maybe if someone took the time to watch the Coach's perspective films of the game we'd know better, but I'd guess the actual coaches have already done so and they'll make their decisions when they have to. They'll also understand who was getting help when and why.

Let's just chalk it up to a pretty good performance by both guys and an optimistic report that Oher will be back. 

Personally, I just think standing up for Remmers isn't that bad of an idea. The guy might not be a Pro-Bowler, but he's been doing the best of anyone at RT we've had in quite a while. Might not be great, but he's been a big improvement over where we were.

Remmers is responsible for half the other teams getting us off the field on 3rd down--- so I'm for oher and Williams.

Williams is the better OT, he can run block a lot  better and are about the same in pass protection while doing it in his 2nd season.
