Theres no way the league doesnt know what has been going on with Cam.  Since the season opener, the hits on him have made national news and been the subject of mainstream discourse at least three times.  Goodell already knows what it is.  I just dont see anyway this backfires, because now that he's acknowledged it, how does it make Goodell and the league look if it happens again and goes unpunished?

I agree it's best for the team and Newton to speak up.

There's really no way to spin this so that opponents won't jump on it and call Newton out, but I honestly don't care.

The problem with the league is that, as illogical as it may sound, they're often more likely to protect their officials than they are their players. And in this case, they'd also be protecting themselves from accusations they've been lax in their oversight.

I have a hard time seeing them admitting mistakes, but I suppose it's possible.

Agreed on all counts.  My line of thinking though is, although the league always looks out for itself first and foremost and "protecting the shield" is its priority, they have also demonstrated a history of addressing issues internally, so as to not tarnish their public image while trying to rememdy a situation.  I'm hoping thats how this is handled...  goodell wont throw his boys under the bus publicly, so im hoping behind closed doors he acknowledges it and then addresses it with the officials moving forward.  In my mind, he has to.

I'm hoping for a good outcome. I'm just not expecting one.

Rivera was dead right about them needing both larger officiating crews and full time officials. Those are both badly needed, but I'm not holding my breath.

Rivera said that he has talked to the league multiple time before. The League Office has always said the right thing, so Rivera was good. Now, it is getting to the point where something has to be done. But Rivera has always had Cams back.

Also, Cam said that he has been talking within the org before this, and was asked to keep it quiet. Which is why Cam said yesterday, that he had permission to bring it up now. The team has tried multiple times to get answers. To basically, no avail.

So Cam came out with it.

The ONLY thing talking heads are using against Cam is his wording. Yeah, his wording. His use of "I have seen other QBs get hit, and get the calls" Which is a misquote, or taken out of context at best. That he is separating himself from other QBs, that he is trying to say it is only him. When you don't have all the facts, maybe you should temper your judgment.

Cam was speaking for himself. And only about from the pocket, and not as a runner, although, he did bring those up. But he did bring up all sorts of different QBs. Small ones, tall ones. lol that was funny. I thought he was going to go all Oscar Myer wiener on us.

Cam is not trying to hog any glory. He is only trying to bring to light a situation that is past its, let's fix this thing, date. League wise, not just for him.

tl/dr version; Just read the dang thing will ya.

Explains a lot, doesn't it?

Rivera and the team complain. The league says "oh yes, we understand and we'll take care of it" and we believe them, but then they don't.

It's a kind of conversation that occurs between men and women rather frequently.
