Why is there so much effort put forth by people to discredit Cam?

There's more than one reason.

1) Obviously, race, or better yet, the NFL fans' that are racist.  A lot of people just don't like the idea of the QB position being filled by a black person and one that is doing it really well.  Especially someone like Cam who doesn't conform (which is also another reason).   He is his own man and people don't like that.   I'm not sure if true, but it's like some white people are grasping at the QB position because it's the last one they have out of the big three sports that has been dominated by them mostly.

2) Cam doesn't fall in line.  He doesn't conform.  He does what he wants.  I'm not sure if you can bring back race into this or what.   People think they own NFL players, the fans, the owners, it's sick.  They think they can decide HOW they should act and how "mature" they should handle press conferences.   They don't like the fact he does what he wants.   I think the NFL has been sending a clear message to him and our team with all these non-calls and it started in the Super Bowl.  Cam took hit after hit since then and just now is saying something (and mostly a leg shot, that everyone is ignoring).

3) The people on his case, ARE falling in line, just like the NFL and the owners want them to.

4) The more people bring up things like this the more people start realizing how many calls are bogus and how many games are pushed in one direction for another team.   Two or three years ago if you brought up bad calls and pushing games to one team, people wouldn't believe it.  Now though, I talk to people weekly who know something is up and the NFL is on its path to NBA level of officiating, or worse, since you have players' health being messed with in the NFL.   The NFL wants to keep this out of sight/out of mind like they have since Goodell took over.  The issue is, combined with bad product, the ratings are dropping fast.  Maybe they'll wake up.

5) Like I said, ratings.  It's not good.  I talk to people often that are starting to distance themselves because they feel bad watching people rattle their brains around all game.    People aren't letting their kids play, and the more evidence that comes out is worse and worse.   When Cam gets up there and talks, it's bad for the NFL because it just piles on more evidence.   They want that to go away and are now just trying to discredit him.

Folks here get mad when you say this, but he brings a lot of attention to himself and people will always take shots when you do this. He's been taunting opponents and show boating for years and you can't expect to do this and not get good and bad attention.

I'll get flamed for saying this but I can't understand why Panther fans can't comprehend this.

Cool, makes it completely acceptable not to call knee shots and head shots.   Because he has a personality, doesn't really mean he should get injured.    I understand as a black guy he's supposed to be more quiet and reserved, how dare he lol.   The NFL used to have more taunting years ago and this didn't happen.   Deion Sanders would dance in people's face.   Jim McMahon and that whole team in 85.    But a black QB, na, can't do that, only other positions.

It's fear. The NFL hasn't had a player like Cam. He's big, strong, fast, rocket launcher for an arm.  He's treated differently because outside of the Panther Nation people fear him. He has the intangibles to be one of the most athletic yet skilled quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen.  With the efforts of scrutinizing him, knit picking his personality, his celebrations, his wardrobe, his mechanics, etc. it's due to not being able to compare him to anyone. Now argument can say he's just another Randle Cunningham, Donte Culpepper, Michael Vick, yadda yadda.  When you fear something or someone there is always something to worry about, talk about, etc..

Idc if it's Cam back there or DA, the hits that took place this past Sunday and heck throughout the season are definitions to the rules that protect the other elite QBs.  Just as Herm Edwards said there shouldn't be any confusion, if it's a flag throw the flag.

He's black. He's great. He's not your standard apologetic black superstar who doesn't dare walk outside the standard lines of answering everything humbly. He's emotional and a rare talent. He doesn't fit any mold previously seen. He wears hats with feathers in them and doesn't give a fug.

I'm white. Before the people secretly scrolling past this post rolling their eyes.
