Tony Dungy says Ron Rivera and Jerry Richardson need to step up....

How do any of us know that Jerry hasn't contacted Roger in the past about this exact issue?

How do any of us know that Ron hasn't sent video after video to the league office begging for more protection for Cam?

I'm not saying that they have, but I'm not jumping the gun and screaming "THEY DONT CARE ABOUT CAMMMMMM" either.  Good lord.

JR is one of the most influential owners in the league. Cam is the face of his franchise and he, at the absolute minimum, needs to get Goodell on the phone to straighten some of these calls out. Cam understands the risks and what protections he is giving up when he tucks the ball to run, but standing in the pocket and taking the exact hit that tore Tom Brady's and Carson Palmer's ACL, and NOT having it flagged is absolutely despicable.

He's also the only one with the shield on his field. His influence is because he's NFL first, Panthers second.

i get that "we don't know what goes on behind closed doors," but in this case i think that mentality is part of the problem. cam has chosen to speak out publicly and when no one else from the team keeps up that public message, he looks like he is being hung out to dry. i'm not totally saying that JR should have a press conference about this, but on most other teams, there are "leaks" and "inside sources" who are quoted to back up the player in the news/public eye. in our case, this team remains tight-lipped, even anonymously.

the other problem with using back channels only is it creates no public pressure on the league and further plays into the idea of the panthers leadership as league stooges. right now it continues to look like Ron just mails packages of video tapes to some NFL PO box that is a direct line to the dumpster. it also looks like JR is going to Goodell for his "sweet deal" to get a little help for the team, but this is more akin to thinking paying sticker price for a new car is the sweet deal. furthermore, it just leads to whoever the team talks to with the league to just say "We'll look into it." and the response and momentum taper off into nothing.

this needs to be a public conversation and the panthers need to use that PR guy they pay to maybe put some pushback out there and help the QB.

Did anyone see Mike Pereira on Undisputed this morning? Said basically Cam is whining and it reminds him when he had to officiate Vick; then at the end of the Josh Norman segment about him calling out a ref, Pereira said it's interesting to him that Norman came from Carolina because Rivera is always complaining and having officials over to the sideline to talk, insinuating that there's a culture of whining in Carolina.

So to me, Ron does say something but it falls on deaf ears

lol...is there a coach in the NFL who hasn't had officials over to the sideline this season? I'm talking just a one game example where a coach didn't let a ref have it about something....

Mike is just looking out for his people and spinning

I'll ask again, what proof do you have that JR hasn't already talked to The Roger about this issue?

He's both a heartress scrooge hard ass and a pussy to the people who aren't going to like him no matter what depending on the angle they want to play at the moment.

Because nothing has changed. Thats just stepping out on a limb.

Is JR The Rogers only boss?

The fact of the matter is we have no idea how many phone calls, emails, letters, telegraphs, etc...that JR has sent, or not sent to the league.  Calling the owner of the Carolina Panthers a pussy on here just makes you sound like an idiot first, and a child second. (you didn't do that, not insinuating that)

Every Single Person in the building wants Cam officiated like the rest of the NFL QB's...no one wants to see what we are seeing, but I'm not convinced it's going to change either.

There is frustration that is brewing (sideline was reportedly livid after the low shot yesterday) and if these shots continue unpunished sooner or later it will explode in an on the field incident.  You can't expect highly competitive men at this level to sit back and watch their leader take hits like this indefinitely without at some point retaliating.  And once it explodes, it will really explode.  Again, frustration is building and the league will not come off looking good if the Panthers players start taking matters into their own hands after the league has been sitting quietly doing nothing about these cheap shots.
