Where have you ever seen a Cb say "I'm hanging the cleats up because of turf toe"

Or "I lost a step because if turf toe"

Show me a player that is documented that lost a step or decrease in production for years after turf toe

There are several. Look up 'turf toe career ending'. Lots to read.

Honestly, once they said it was turf toe, I didnt expect Bradberry to play much the rest of the season OR if he did, hye wouldnt be 100%.  From everything i've ever heard about it, its a chronic thing that doesnt really heal in one season.

Butler...  meh...

It is chronic, and it progressively gets worse over a player's career. Most players can go a few years while missing several games when it reoccurs (and it will) before they may have to call it quits. Size and back peddling are the two main areas for the game that will accelerate the effects. Deion was done with the Cowboys once this happened to him.

Anthony Johnson had his career come to a halt because of it.

Turf toe ended Jonathan Ogden's HOF career early

Turf toe has actually been the injury that ended several HOF careers.  Granted they were older players though...but turf toe has been the nail in coffins

It happens to younger players, but they fade quickly so it is never really noticed. The players with great young careers who have it happen in their late 20s or 30s are the ones that are remembered because of their early success.

Darren McFadden had a turf toe injury as a rookie and it plagued him for literally years.  Could argued that injury prevented his career from ever taking off.  He missed time 2-3 years after the initial injury because it would never heal correctly I believe

Correct. McFadden as a RB could heal and cope with it by altering his running style. It is the 300 pound bodies and CBs because of their back peddling that feel the biggest impact because of the rate of reoccurring turf toe is much greater.

Patrick Willis just retired because of it. It ended Jack Lambert's career. It has sent young CBs to change to safety due to the limitations with backpedaling. I believe this is what spearheaded Ronnie Lott's move from CB to FS. Deangelo Hall was moved to FS for the same reason.

Now, I will present you with Tharold Simon. Who? Tharold Simon was the CB drafted by the Seahawks and was so impressive Richard Sherman made the statement that he would be even better then Sherman very soon. You do not know of him because a toe injury took him out his rookie year in 2013. He spent 2014 and 2015 with the Seahawks, but continued to struggle with his toe. He even made the roster to open the season for the 2016 Seahawks, but he was cut following the 1st game. He is now a back up with the Cardinals. A young CB with such promise still sticks in the league with the hope he will heal, but he is clearly limited and the potential may never be realized.

You can bash me all you want, but do not call me out because you can not verify a claim with your own knowledge/research.

Turf toe will end a career.

But if they let it heal will he  be back to 99% or is this a injury that can't be repaired/healed?

Darren McFadden dealt with his for about 4 years I believe and it likely impacted him ever being what some believed he would ever become...

every player is different.  Some guys have worked through it and had great seasons despite it.  Sterling Sharpe had a great season despite being plaqued by it.

But turf toe isn't like a jammed finger...it can be brutal

Everyone is different. Bradberry says it is feeling better every day. So hope for the best. Bad news is 2 of our division foes play on artificial turf, which is said to be the cause of it. May nag him is entire career.

    • Really low bar of 220ypg in year 2 So on that list its (11): Mayfield Lawrence Goff Carr Herbert Darnold Stafford (2nd healthy year, far over in rookie year) Burrow Purdy Mahomes Stroud (so far in 2024) not on 2024 of 220ypg+ list but 31 or under and did in year 2 (5😞 Murray Winston Watson Lock Mariota so what 16? That list has some duds there too. Also, it's passing some old dudes (Dalton, Flacco). It passes late start guys: Love, Rogers (old), Cousins (old). It passes Prescott (many over 220) and Wilson (many over 220) who were over 200 but not 220.  also Jackson, an MVP that Young wont sniff as a runner to augment the rushing yards. J. Allen who  jump came year 3, but had rushing yards in year 2 that Young wont.   the list of more than 180 ypg in year #1 while starting 10+ games is larger young had 5 of 16 games with over 200..... less than 1/3 were 200+ yards........ its a problem. glad he had a game where he didnt totally fug up. but we are still needing a lot more the 2nd half of the year.
