First Take Speaks on Cam Newton Playing Style

I think Max makes a good point. Yes players who play the game to gain that edge, even if it means sacrificing their body to do so, generally have shorter careers. But, would you rather have Cam's prime shortened by a few years, but being the most physically dominant specimen the NFL has ever seen, or would you rather have Cam not playing to his full potential just to extend his career by a few years?

i think the answer is pretty obvious

He is more of Lebron James that has elite genes to take the punishment. BTW  look what Marshwhan Lynch was able to  do for so long at high level and he was taking far more punishment.  Like I said previously Cam took more vicious hit while staying in the pocket vs design runs and scrambles.

The vast majority of the big hits Cam has taken have been while he is acting as a passer. He usually does a good job of protecting himself when he's acting as a runner. I just think he either didn't see that DB or assumed the DB would let up since he was clearly going to score. Gotta finish the play. I think he probably learned his lesson on that one.

Lynch only had 6 stellar years and retired when he was 30. He probably could have gone a few more, but I think his style of play prevented him from playing at an elite level after 30, which is probably why he decided to hang it up.

Max compared Cam to Shaq, but SAS rebuttled with "Shaq would give the blows, Cam has had to absorb the blows" so there's a big difference.

6 elite but the other year where better than average, he could have played at elite level for 3 more year atleast. He hung it up more due to money and the whole SB fiasco. BTW Cam is taking only 20-30 % of hit a RB does in their career.
