D Line vs Dallas Offense

Well I hate to interupt these intense discussions on such important topics like "If Romo was avalible", and "What would it take to fire Fox". But we will be on the national stage in a few nights and our season could hinge on this game. Does anyone think that Ron Meeks and Brian Baker can get this patch-work line ready to stop the likes of Barber and Choice, and put pressure on Romo. One of the concerns I have is the second half, with the Texas heat (It does not help that our guys are wearing black) and Burton -if he is in the D line rotation, is his conditioning up to par. I know our "backers' will be ready, and IMHO, there is no way Harris misses this game so ditto for the secondary. So I would think the immediate concern is keeping the Cowboys from gaining huge chunks of yardage (as they did against the G men) against our hobbled line.

Was 82 degrees at kick-off last Sunday night, with high humidity. Again that's just one factor as it's relates to Burton running out of gas in the second half.

ill be there and I have to say the cowgirls are hungry for a win. I only think we can win if:

1 Jake starts to find his rythem.

2 Smitty can start running routes and not just down the sidelines.

3 Pep can get somewhere pass the D line

4 Our safties well if they can actually learn to read the plays.

5 Stewie and Dwilliams find some holes( they started to last week.)

6 Meeks can clog the the lanes.

This IMHO will get a W for the first time this year. We are more hungry for the win since we havent seen one since last december.

What I think we will start to see is improvement of the defense as a whole as the season progresses. It might not come until week 8, but I think we will be a lot happier with our defense toward the end of the year, than we are now, and looking forward to the next year. If that AH-HAH moment comes vs. Big D this Mon, we could win 9 games. If it takes until week 8, we probably won't win more than 6.

This start reminds me of 07, when Davidson was new, and his offense was about a "zone" scheme. Sure, we started out 2-1 (the loss to Texans, reminiscent of the recent Eagles debacle), and Carr was a disaster (Hayden for Kemo) when Jake went down, but there were a lot of games where the O-line was just not cohesive, and that was the main reason we lost. We still had Hartwig and he wasn't performing up to his contract (Peppers), we had Whale, who, like D. Lewis, was a specialist (zone blocking;3 technique) and it just didn't work in our scheme for either of them to be the every down starter. Kalil was a rookie (E. Brown).

The next year, 08, we beefed up the line, went back to the "power" scheme and the line was tight. They showed some of that against the Falcons. THis D line needs a new identity, like what we did with the O-line last year. We should focus on speed, cause we sure don't have size.

I'm not worried about the offense vs. Dallas. As long as the line plays like they did vs. the Falcons, we can score some points. But, we have to get the running game going, and that means spreading the defense with the passing game early. We must pick up the blitz and we will be fine. We could put up low 30s on Dallas.

Our run defense was working pretty well till we started letting them convert 3rd and whatever all day long in Atlanta. D just wore out imo. Gonzalez is a monster but I think Witten is better. If we play like last week, he might as well book his trip to the prowbowl tuesday moning. Hopefully the football angels touched Meeks and Fox in their sleep and inspried them to find a way to get the Dfense clicking. If not, then hopefully Jake builds on last week and somehow we pull a V out.

Losing to both Atlanta and Dallas in back to back weeks would be really depressing imo. Matter of fact, I can't think of any worse teams to lose to (due to my "good natured" hatred of Cowboy and Falcon fans). Ok..well Detroit. But thats it.

Roof was opened last Sun. night, letting the heat in. I know it sounds screwy when you spend all that money to have the abillty to close it and keep th A/C cranking, but it's JJs universe down threre.

Why are you so concerned with Burton? Is he really going to feature that much?

i doubt we can stop their running game. we stoped turner for the first half, then he burned us for the rest of the game. For some reason the defense looks cluesless out there.

These guys are huge , although they are world class at their positions, they are not marathon runners, hence the concern about wearing down in the second half if Dallas goes ball control on us. Burton has been away from football for a while.
