PFF Grade for Vernon Butler so far is.......average.

Looks like the issue on that play was that the fb scooted right through where Short vacated. Butler was being doubled so yeah, hes going to move backwards a bit. The linebacker in position to make the tackes was blocked by the lineman who went by Short. looks like Butler did his job.

Yeah, but you shouldn't judge rookies on their first few games.  It takes time to label someone a bust. The kid will improve

It is Butlers fault that a third offensive lineman did not join the double team on him and chose to run by Short to block Thompson instead.

Well to be fair, I think he has looked pretty good before getting injured. Has he been perfect? No, but what rookie DT is? He has shown a great first step and the ability to chase down from the DT position. He also has played in only 3 games!!! Cut him some slack

Or Nassib.  Think Butler is going to become a stud.  Nassib we couldve grabbed in the 2nd then traded up in the 3rd to grab Bradberry (pretty sure he still wouod have been around)  Nassib has outperformed Ogbah so far, think he had a sack in pretty much every preseason game and has atleast a QB everygame during the reg season thus far minus the 2 games or so he missed with the broken hand.
