Other fun observations:

how did Shiva not take one single bullet?

The "Kingdom" was literally like 7 people lmao

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is having a blast

Sonequa Martin did a great job these past two episodes

Sasha wanting to travel in a coffin and Negan agreeing to it? lol

I figured the Kingdom would bring about 30 people. When I saw the king and just a few people, I was like WTF? Does TWD think this is realistic? Why did Alexandria even have to go ask them for help?

I have been telling all of my friends who also watch TWD lately that at this point, the only reason I have been watching this last half of the season is because it is now a ritual for my wife and I.  It's just something we do together.  But, this is NOT the TWD I fell in love with.  It is lazy, cumbersome, ill-conceived, and predictable.

But, I wasn't AS offended by the finale as I should have been after reading Bronn's spoilers last week.  Knowing the cheesiness that lie ahead kept me from having any average expectations to be letdown by.  I believe the show officially jumped the shark somewhere around the Glen/Dumpster Fakeout, and it has just gotten progressively worse.

As I was watching The Talking Dead after, I caught myself feeling bad for JDM.  He is a great actor, came on late, was asked to portray the biggest figure in the TWD universe outside of Rick, and the writers completely poo the bed.  To go from the guy in the season premiere to the idiot that sticks his negotiating leverage into an air tight coffin, unbounded, without being searched was laughable.  What was the coffin for anyway?  What purpose did it serve, other than the writers thiught it would be cool to have a walker sasha pop out of?  He has lost his aura of intelligence and wit.  He no longer seems to have a method to his madness...  he just does poo because the writers need a pawn to get them from point A to point B.  That sucks.

Other observations:

*Further illustrating the poorly thought out writing - why the F would Negan, a man who has made his bones in this world by setting rules and TAKING from other groups, make a deal with the heapsters?  And not just for supplies - apparently he agreed to send people of I'm understanding correctly.  DUMB.  The negotiation wbile standing over Rick and Carl was further dumbassery and horribly written.

*As some others have said, the Shiva scene was just piss poor.  Ironically, it was the best, most realistic she has looked using their CGI, but it was unbeliveable.  I told my wife, if you're in a shootout and have cover, why would your first target NOT be a tiger eunning around mauling people?  Lol...  that would be my first target, and yet, not one bullet.

*Letting Sasha ride in the coffin and Negan looking like a dumbass agreeing to it, as I mentioned above...  i just cant get over it.  Again, why is the coffin even there in the first place?  Why is that even an option?

*I didnt know whether to laugh or cry at Ezekiel's canned "Alexandria will not fall today!" line while pointing a calvary sword.

*Once the heapsters flipped on Alexandria due to their unbelievable deal with Negan, why would Jadis not blow Rick's brains out immediately, but then shoot him through his kidney?  Lol...

*And there is pregnant Maggie standing out in the open after giving military commands, shooting a pistol without getting shot.

*I guess the one saving grace for the episode was I legit laughed and throroughly enjoyed Negan's middle finger exit while being shot at lol.  Still didnt salvage the episode.

*I'm becoming numb to the loss of main characters.  I like Sasha, but her ending was beyond predicatable and yet still, unbelievable.  And I was telling a friend recently, i think what's hurt the show more than even the horrible situational writing is the lack of new character development as the original characters are killed off.  Part of what made the first few seasons so good was the constant conflict between multiple characters.  There were so many characters that audience was invested in that every conflict and obstacle mattered.  Now, they kill off mainstays and cheaply plug holes as they go, instead of building them up over time - another sign of poor writing...  the fill-you-in scenes woth Abraham would've been much better placed as it was happening, rather than as a flashback.  Because up until ladt night, i was still wondering where the once-in-a-lifetime love they kept referencing was prior to Abraham's death.

Oh well...

Next seasons' premiere Negan will jump up and smash a brick block and grab the Mario star and run through more gun fire at point blank range.  The big plot twist will be Shiva is actually a hologram and it is actually the year 2999.  Carol makes a shocking revelation that she is in search of John Connor.  The trash people are actually computers and we finally realize that this is actually a TV reboot of the Matrix and Rick is Neo.

Oh yeah, and I am not watching the Badlands AMC.  Give up.

Yeah I'm pretty much watching at this point just out of habit. I'm still invested in some of the characters, JDM is pretty good and well.. yeah it's habit.  I definitely laughed at King E and his dialog.  Part of me likes his character but it's almost like he needs to break from it sometimes when the poo is hitting the fan. Pretty cool having a bulletproof tiger though. They should be unbeatable with that.

I don't follow the comics but to me the TV show just gets dragged out too long. I think that's why I enjoyed Breaking Bad so much. Five seasons was perfect length.

So Michonne can't fight worth af without her sword...

Nobody can shoot worth a poo...

Nobody of note actually got killed in the firefight...

The writers are still lazy af...  all they want is a drug out ending so people will come back I suppose...  ugh.

Maybe I'm just a hater now but damn it's awful.  The amount of plot this season covered coulr have been 4 episodes.

The showrunners seem to think that they can neglect any real character development until they have to kill off a character, in which case they jam it into the first 45 minutes thru flashbacks before the big reveal. The writing is piss poor.

Despite the poor writing I enjoy JDM's performance as Negan and flipping off Alexandria on his way out was hilarious.

Really get sick of the fake outs with major characters, was actually hoping they would commit and kill Michonne to at least shake things up a little.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
