TWD Season 7

Wow I didn't expect this much hate - after the complete downer of the first half of the season, the show is reinvented again, this time as an action movie.

I was engaged the entire episode, and understood that for one episode they needed to lay off the constant fear of the Saviors for it to work. Thought that the part with Negans henchmen at Alexandria solidified the point that once you are done with fear you can control your situation a little better.

They have the walkie talkie and would have probably known if there was a patrol out in their area I would think.

I enjoyed Greg's direction, once I realized he was making an action movie.

Yeah Shiva looked a little digital but it's AMC television, not Star Wars.

show isn't reinvented.  It is just doing very basic things we spent half a season wishing they would get on with.

also, there was no Negan in the episode which automatically makes it more bearable.

for WD midseason premiere? it was weak.

The showrunners have made it very clear that they reinvent the show in some way every half season, whether its how Rick responds to things or the general direction of the show. This was what I was expecting after the bleak first half.

I think there is a case to be made that in terms of action or plot development it was "weak" as we are usually getting major stuff in premieres, and this was more of a reset. I really enjoyed Rick having to deal with a "king" that owns a tiger, and Sasha/Rosalita (names right?) in a tiff over Abraham and that loss. And we now have a Carol/Daryl reunion on the horizon!

How long has Jesus had that radio?

The show needs to up its game or millions are this close to watching something else.

I doubt it tell me what's better on Sunday night at 9pm at the moment ? I agree the show could be better but this  is a fuking Zombie show.

The Walking dead is the best show on TV. I'm entertained for almost an hour every week .

us simple folks we will watch every week no matter what bs happens.

Well Black Sails has been one of the best shows on television for years and it is on right now.    Homeland is also, far superior.    And soon, Billions is back on soon, also superior.

But yeah WD is and has been a B show for a while now, so everyone just needs to temper expectations.    It's on par with other "fun" shows like The Last Ship and Colony where it is what it is and just enjoy the ride, if you can.    Though Last Ship is probably a bit better lol.

The show could have been a top tier show if HBO picked it up instead.    I think if Walking Dead was brought to them after GoT they would have, but just didn't want to invest in a fantasy type show at that point.

I just don't really get why the show added the junkyard group.

I mean, yeah, it gives them reinforcements. But why the hell did they come across as Zod and his band of alien gangsters with Lord of the Rings-esque names living in a junkyard and taking other groups' stuff.

It's just incoherent filler at this point. Sure, in a dystopian future in 50-100 years people devolve to a state where they can't speak proper English. AFAIK we're only like 2-3 years into the zombie apocalypse, and you've got Tamiel and Jadis leading a group of Mad Max-esque ruffians with hard-ons for guns and who can't talk properly. GTFO with that garbage.

If you want to be spoiled about this whole group, then

supposedly they show up to work with Rick and co. but once the real fighting with the Saviors start, they turn coat and start fighting alongside them.

This just makes introducing this group even worse.

If the showrunners had any balls or just basic writing skills, they would have had Daryl spill the beans to Carol, have her rally Ezekiel, and we could just get on with it.

But no. Now we're gonna have another Savior only episode where we once again get shown how bad these guys are, as if we don't already know. There will be hints of

Dwight starting to have a change of heart

so I guess there is that... but omg get on with it, please.

They never even really clarified why Rick was smiling at the end of the last episode, other than some garbage about how someone once showed him that "enemies could be turned to friends" or some other such nonsense.

They need to just end the show, really, if they are going to continue to go the routes they've been going.

Second half of this season is just about them painfully doing exactly what we know is going to happen.   Which isn't good TV.

The "greatest arc" in the comic comically will be where we can pinpoint the beginning of the end of the TV show.

The slow play is something TWD has no clue about how to do.   They also ruined characters as a result.  At this point, when Morgan and Carol "turn" their characters IMO will have already been ruined.  Therefore it isn't awesome but awful.

This is true. Especially the last part about Morgan and Carol. FWIW they both already turned once. Carol at Terminus and in the fallout of it, and Morgan when he saved Carol. Morgan has obviously gone back to being the old Morgan and Carol just mentally checked out. If/when either of them come around again, it is something they've already done, so it loses any novelty.
