Negan in the comics will always be the real Negan to me.  But I liked the job he did with the character. In the comics Negan is more imposing and less charismatic I think. He is definitely supposed to be annoying though.

Biggest gripe I have with JDM's Negan is that he's not as physically imposing as comic Negan. Too slim in the hips/no upper body

This is why he'll never really be Negan to me.  But he does the part justice otherwise.

Exactly. His mannerisms are correct, but Negan is a big dude. JDM, not so much
