TWD Season 7

GOT wanted to tell a story and knew they would catch the source material....they weren't scared of that catch-up/event.

TWD's story telling is completely overwhelmed by it IMO.  TWD writers probably would still have Ned Stark alive

Yeah, they were going to kill after they didn't kill her immediately like they claimed they just always do.  Then if they return to lady ocean camp they will let someone slide again, huh.  It just is crappy storytelling.  They also missed 798 shots at Tara...at Tara.

It's like Negan.  Oh there are rules!!! No exceptions.  He will kill every man and boy over the age of ten for being a threat.  But then Daryl can kill all his men, punch Negan in the face, disrespect Negan in front of his men again, and do it again in Negan's own bedroom....but Negan let's him slide because he is such a unique threat.

it was another arc milking filler.  An extra long episode so they could explain that Heath got a new job on 24.  No one even cares about Heath.

Easy money on the show making some changes next year as the ratings tank at the same time we are told the story is nearing its best.   These episodes aren't well done and this arc could of been

Maybe they just started shooting rifles.  Maybe ammo is too precious for target practice. Maybe they wanted to chase her out of their village so they didn't kill her in front of the children. That the little girl (the Carl comparison) was the only one chomping at the bit to blow her brains out in front of everyone is very telling. Not surprised you didn't consider any of that.

Maybe Negan learned that killing everyone like that was a bad thing, since they did all that work to secure people to work for resources, only to lose them all. Killed all those people for nothing.

Daryl is a political prisoner, used to keep Rick in line. I'm pretty sure we already covered that, which is why discussing this with people like you is so frustrating. DARYL IS A POLITICAL PRISONER AND KILLING HIM WOULD PUSH THE ALREADY TENSE RELATIONS HE HAS WITH ALEXANDRIA. He wants them working for him, bringing him poo, not dead or running away to hide. Keeping Daryl alive as a hostage keeps Rick a good boy.

lol the filler accusation.  Did you watch Lost by any chance?  I have the strangest feeling you were a huge Lost fan.

Ratings aren't tanking. It's still the most watched show on television by a country mile.

I think dudes are just mad because all the men on the show are bleeding pussies and the women are stepping up to be the bad asses.

I'm not even sure why I bothered typing this, since you won't read it, and will just be making the same tired arguments again next week.

"Nobody cares about Heath."  I'm shocked you even know his name tbh.

But they shot at her over and over....but couldn't waste one more bullet when they cornered her?  How was everyone not chomping to kill her when they all were firing at her.

didnt want to kill in front of the children? You mean like in front of the little girl who had been trained and wanted to kill her from the jump? They all have been told to kill on site (everyone) and per them they have done just that in the past...except for Tara.

Daryl isn't really a political prisoner.  Again, if you only follow the TV story that isn't how Negan rolls.  Not how he keeps people in line.  They kill to keep people in line at these little colonies. They randomly kill to open up conversations, they bash the heads in of those that buck them, they kill potential future threats. TV show lays out rules we are suppose to believe....then doesn't apply them at their leisure to our beloved people.  I read the spoilers for next week....once again, Negan simply doesn't make sense as laid out on TV.

I still maintain the comics give some a narrative they merge into the show.  They take a well done comic and then defend a poorly done TV story.  You agree sometimes with how poorly the TV does it and then seem to go right back to defending every criticism.

LOST was decent to a point.  Then they realized they had a hit show with no actual end game.  They just made up mysteries Then it sucked.   I've said before filler might not be a good word (each one slowly sets the table for a meal that likely is extremely predictable and not worth the wait)....they are telling a story badly for the sake of stretching out this arc to cover 2 seasons (one of many current issues)

and I do read your post.  More entertaining than talking Panther ball. They normally nail mid season finales....so I'll give them a shot to redeem a bad first half of a season.

from what spoilers say next episode is either going to be the best of the season or worst.

The little girl was salivating at the chance to kill her. Isn't that enough reason to step back and say "what are we doing to our children? what are we turning them into?" The same thing is happening with Carl.

Killing people indiscriminately has backfired on them. It cost them an entire community of workers, and got a bunch of guys at their outposts killed.

Lost was nothing but filler.  The entire goddamn series was the very definition of filler.

The same people that want them to deviate from the source material cry and pitch a fit when they deviate from the source material.

Guess what? None of last night's episode was in the comics in any fashion it was all show-only material. But it does set something up for the future.

So we are catching all groups in the midst of a mindset change?

this isn't GOT source material.  If they followed the comic only they would have leaped the source material long ago.  There just isn't that much.  GOT COULD of milked their source material as TWD is fixated on....but they didn't.  They actually had tons of source material in comparison. GOT is awesome as a result.  TWD takes a plot point that could be covered in 5 minutes and turns it into a 1hr and 1/2 special....GOT takes a 5 minute plot point and moves through it in 5 minutes.

I think people are just criticizing a poorly done show of recent times....comic material and non-comic material all gets the same treatment by TV only fans.

But IMO next episode will be be huge for them.  I assume Negan and Carls TV characters do some heavy lifting....and they are currently two of the TV shows most unreliable (comics strongest...which is a big hurdle)

My personal hope/theory

Carl clearly is a major comic badass character per reports and likely the last man standing (comic theory I hear tossed around).  Jesus' actor tossed that out and wanted us to know Carl should be around for a long time...in similar fashion the actor who portrayed Abe did this about being excited his character would make a long run (correction from the comic) after he knew he was axed.

TV Show Carl doesn't match the comic kid character (he is also is a horrible actor...so taking him down the full comic path is much more difficult)  I mean he can't act so everything Carl centric will just suck.  Plus he likely will start growing a beard soon.

So maybe the real point of the ocean camp was to once again introduce the fact Negan kills kids (they actually have now actually covered the kid killing at two different locations)

so hopefully they surprise the comic fans and the now the college accepted actor....goes and gets an education.  Even with time off I don't see how you can be a full time college student and handle the workload as a major character.  College ain't home school HS.

The more GoT deviates from it's source material, the worse it becomes, too.  Also the comparison between GoT source material and TWD source material is like comparing an ocean to a pond. One is several million words, and the other is black and white imagery that probably isn't even 50,000 words long. Possibly not even half that.

The entire run of TWD comics could be read in less than 8 hours easily.

You could barely make it through half of the first book in ASoIaF in that time.

Exactly, which makes the milking of the material and trying to stretch limited stuff for entire seasons ...bad TV.

fug it, just reboot Carl and bring in a better actor.

The oceanside community is important because some characters take to the seas for fishing when the dust settles from All Out War, among other reasons.

TWD needs better writers and directors.

fish and the ocean exist regardless.  They need to focus on good TV rather than putting out bad TV to simply hit comic check points.

the ratings do matter.  No matter how big once are,  you start deep declines....the big can fall pretty quick.

TWD can't find a happy medium between TV and the comic....knock GOT but they nailed that.  Of course book readers may find error in that but GOT has done that masterfully

Yeah if you ignore Jaime's stupid trip to the water gardens, or Baelish teleporting everywhere, along with other places where they've dropped the ball.

GoT is not the hallmark you make it out to be. They've had to truncate the material, and now I bet they're all wishing they'd fleshed it out a little more.

What TWD is doing is the opposite.
