If we are going to get real the first thing Negan should of done was kill Rick not keep Daryl.  I mean he is the obvious ticking time bomb. Oh this dude literally said he was going to eventually kill me after bashing those heads? Yeah....villains always have to leave the door wide open though

I agree, I think if they were going to censor his potty mouth they should of thought about dialing back the nursery rhymes.  I get how they can almost cancel each other out in the comic and work together.  Doesn't work well right now with him singing Cinderella dressed and yellow....and then maybe hitting us with a "screw you"

Rick is the reason everything works. Rick gets poo done.  Rick is the one keeping everyone in Alexandria from killing Negan. If Negan can make Rick kneel, everyone else will follow. It's so much easier that way. I think Negan is impressed with the way Rick and gang took down his compound and thought, "We need these guys working with us."

Otherwise Negan should have just killed them all, and everyone in Alexandria too. But he doesn't want that.

Everything works for Negan until Rick.  There is no Rick at Hilltop or the Kingdom etc.

It is all the same script.  Negan's downfall is he thinks he is the baddest man around because he won a tiny battle with Rick's crew (because really that is what happened).

Because he brings the leaders under his heel. That way he doesn't have to micromanage.

Gregory and Zeke are mere figureheads...none were ever threats

none of them wiped out maybe a 3rd of Negan's forces with ease, threaten to kill Negan directly after one of his power displays, etc.  None of these so called leaders was ever the man Negan watched on that video tape...and then Negan of course mentions how he wouldn't want to mess with THAT guy but Rick totallly isn't that guy anymore

I mean from a storytelling perspective they simply are allowing Negan to allow his own take down to occur by being ultimately mind boggling dumb.  Which is what they literally do in comics.  Instead of just putting a bullet in your head Batman I am going to tie you up in a room full of explosives and set a timer to go boom in an hr.  See ya later.  Then the villain acts surprised that Batman escapes and saves the day

I don't mind all of this character discussion... everyone's opinion is valid whether you like the show or not...

I still watch, but I've gone from a guy that anxiously awaited the show on Sunday nights (most of last season and prior) to a guy that maybe gets to it on the DVR Tuesday or Wednesday night.  That poo last season with the build up and no payoff really soured me on the show.

Negan is a fine character, but there's just something about this arc they're on that's just boring.  Boringer than all the stuff that has come before... idk maybe it's just show fatigue in general or my pissy attitude from that dumb cliffhanger, but it's just not doing it for me now.

I'll probably keep watching but eh... I got better things to do now than sit and wait for it on Sunday.  I honestly hope that changes.

The cliffhanger was one of the worse things anyone has ever done on television. If anything, it should have ended with Abe and Glenn's death, and the RV poo should have never happened. That's why I was as eager to spoil who died in the season opener for anyone that wanted to know.

Still bother's me that Negan's just running around shooting guns. C'est la vie.

I still sit down and watch it on Sunday nights, mainly because it's the only thing I have in rotation right now.

cliffhanger was horrible.  I still think the TWD got jealous of all the Jon Snow hype and wanted there moment.  Negan should of most definitely at least got Abe in that finale.    Then hit people with a surprise of Glenn in the opener.   Personally, I would have rather had it all in the finale and you don't have that horrible opener which is just a lead up to what should of been at the end of the finale.

What they should have done was killed Abraham on the season finale last year then had Daryl's outburst and Glenn's death on the premiere this year and man it would have been a complete surprise/shock...  too bad they're more worried about screwing with the audience than actually making a show that people want to watch.  TWD has never needed cliffhangers to bring the audience back.

This summer everyone would have been talking about poor Abraham and how Glenn didn't die and then WHAM Glenn gets the bat.  Ratings right now would be thru the roof.

well, I think it would have got Negan off a better start. T

Walking Dead still has this issue of milking out the story line to make this arc last 2 years and these slow moving bottle episodes.  Each episode only tells the story of one groups and is about 15 minutes worth of story stretched into an hour episode.

the reason the preview for this week wasn't a legit preview for this week...... is because TWD is realizing they are irrigating people and only a preview of the upcoming episode almost guarantees another weekly drop in ratings.

That was the second time, IIRC, that they ended a season/half season poorly.

Carl getting shot in the eye should have happened as a cliffhanger... not that little whiny Sam saying "Mommy... mommy"

Leave people with the devastation of a character getting harmed/possibly killed for once. That generates buzz. That is what GoT did with John Snow, the Red Wedding, etc. Hell, they even usually do it in episode 9 so that they have another episode to calm folks' feels a bit...

Basically, TWD just gets off on blueballing viewers, it seems. It does get old, and I can only imagine they will eventually correct it.
