I have this crazy idea that football is becoming more communal . I watch games in a bar and have seen attendance up there. The kids don't have cable anymore so I think they are more attracted to tailgate style viewing and bars. Also I live in Hawaii and games start at 7AM so that might factor into it.

With all the good young QBs coming into the league, you would think more people would be excited. I mean, dam it seems like every team has a QB now. Where did all the dang kids come from all of a sudden? So I am one of those that say the talent is still there, and that the NFL is still a great product.

 

But IMO there are two major flaws in the system. 1. Officiating. 2. No Fun League.

I know Lions fans think the refs are against them. I have read where Cincy fans hate the refs. And even the Browns fans think the refs are out to get them.

 

I don't think the NFL is out to get anyone in particular, I just think the refs are just that bad. Every crew calls the game differently, so teams have to now scout the refs to know what to plan for. IMO refs are now too dependent on instant replay. They have become hesitant, and seem reluctant to make/not make a call.

 

And...I think the NFL knows it is reaching critical mass. IMO full time officials are right around the corner. Figure out what a dang catch is, and let's get the refs on the same page.

 

OH! And c'mon man. Let the dang kids have some fun will ya. I promise it won't ruin our youth.

I think the NFL is oversaturated a bit now. People are also tired of the refs cheating their team out of wins. And I think a smaller percentage of the ratings drop is partially due to greater awareness of the dangers of the game. That'll probably grow down the road. Plus the election.

If you really want to see why ratings are down, take a look at the primetime slate the schedule makers put together for the first seven weeks. Monday night will mark the third time so far that we will have to endure a bears prime time game. 

The Titans and Jags play on Thursday night which you can see exclusively on NFL network because cbs would rather run a rerun of Big Bang theory than that trash.

The way this season has started off for us isn't helping (obviously) but frankly, I have my own personal "Super Bowl Hangover".

Yes i cant watch any games because i know they will be talking about our panthers not looking good and have to hear all the mess about our QB. Its bad enough to get it from panthers fans here, but to hear other teams fans piling on because the hate us for destroying them last year is no fun. Add that to the games have no meaning if we are not in the running. I would have to play fantasy football for it to mater to me right now. I only watch our games.
