fug - I have to work Sunday and wont see the game - first game I havent watched since our 1 -15 season when I had to take a weekend job to make ends meet.  Really bummed here

You seem to have forgotten the Panthers - Bucs game with both teams adamant about giving the game to the other team. Neither team wanted to win that Monday night. That game took everything the Panthers did last season and made them a national joke again.

The DEs need to get to Palmer in 3 seconds or the combo of David Johnson in the flats and the receivers running through the Panthers zones will destroy the secondary. I wish we had a secondary like the Seahawks. Bradberry, McClain, and Johnson do not match up well with their receivers and Palmer if he is not under pressure.

This game looks like the perfect storm for a loss. The Cardinals are coming off a bad game with something to prove, they want to bury the Panthers with a revenge game, they have had this game circled all season, they improved their team in areas during the off season to beat a team like the Panthers, and the Panthers are coming off a bye week that has been historically bad under Rivera.

I hope I am wrong and the east coast trip is enough to rattle the Cardinals. I thought the Panthers would be dominant at home this season, but the Vikings and Bucs game showed how weak the Panthers are at home. I had the Vikings and Bucs as wins with the Cardinals a toss up game, but that was with the belief the Panthers could consistently put up 30+ points at home. The lack of a 3rd down receiving threat in the slot has been much more devastating than I first believed.

I think we all need to realize the Panthers are not going far with this secondary and DE pass rush - especially if they make it to the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs with a 7-9 record, if the Falcons implode, will be more of a disservice to the Panthers future.

2 TE set will solve half the issue the others will be by players returning from injury

Nope. Quality of kicker is the same.

They hit about 85% of their FGs. Good ones are around 90% and are few. They usually do not even stay consistent around 90% from year to year. The bad ones are below 80%. Gano is 82% with the Panthers; 79% for his career.

Gano can be easily replaced. Not sure why Gettleman made him among the top 5 paid kickers in the league.

I speak to match ups, not fantasy.

I was positive about the match ups against the Cards the past couple seasons. This team has been painted into a corner by the front office.

Every team is going to play around the LBs and DTs in the flats, outs to the sidelines at the second level and deep against the secondary. Until they prove they can stop them and reinforce the high risk nature of throwing deep and to the sidelines with DBs who respond well to the flats, that is all the Panthers defense will see.

As for the offense, they can easily pile up points unless they face good edge pass rushers against these OTs. If they are outmatched on the edge and the defense blitzes Cam, then this offense scores less than 20 points. Especially on 3rd down without any reliable slot receiver.

2 TE sets with a no huddle system may solve that, but the second TE must be a receiving threat and demonstrate reliable hands. If they are just a blocker, then it is meaningless.

Hopefully we get the ship righted this week and get a win.  But if it comes down to a field goal for the zona kicker, I would almost be willing to bet my last dollar that he makes it.

I think we may win this if we jump on them early. I know we can score. My only worry is Carlson Palmer passing for 500 yards on our DBs. If it becomes a shootout like that, we are in trouble
