Actually your memory might be a bit hazy. Initially when the Panthers released Brandon Boykin it was a mystery. His tweets even seemed hint that he didn't know why he was released, other than saying "they decided to go with the young guys". It wasn't until later that him being injured was public information.

Edit: Actually just read an article where Brandon Boykin is quoted saying he "has no injury issues".

He got injured in the Bears TC, so honestly no one has any idea if he would've had potential or not.

Oh, so I can't say the Panthers released him because he wasn't healthy, because it wasn't pubic knowledge? Um, ok.

So...because the public found out after the fact, that means that the fact, in fact, didn't happen? Well, cool then. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

You made an ill formed statement, I corrected you. That too, is a matter of public record.

I'm sorry, but another poster has already corrected you. Apparently he wasn't hurt with us at all, but with another team, which makes sense since Brandon Boykin himself after being released stated he wasn't injured, and didn't know why he was released other than having a notion that the Panthers wanted to go with the younger players.

If you can find any statements from the Panther's front office on Brandon Boykin being released because of injury then I would be inclined to agree with you.

He had a hip injury that was persisting. It's why we released him and why he failed a physical or wasn't signed after workouts with a few other teams before the bears grabbed him. His injury that put him officially on IR with them is supposedly a back injury which is a separate issue.

Boykin was released by us because he had a nagging injury.

I've heard this before, but I've never read anything on it. Can you link me to an article? All I know right now is he was put on IR while on the Bears for a pectoral injury he suffered in training camp.

He went to the Giants after us, and they sent him away rather quickly too. Then the Bears signed him, and he went to IR almost immediately. I don't think he ever practiced with the Bears.

But the point is. The Panthers sent him packing because he was not healthy. Whether us fans found out sooner, or later, the fact is, he wasn't healthy.

According to article I've just finished reading he practiced for five days before noticing the injury, and then was placed on IR.

I'm also still waiting for any quoted statements from the Panther's front office on releasing him because of injury, or even statements hinting at him being injured. Do many NFL teams keep player injuries secret when they release them? It doesn't seem so, so why would the Panthers do so in this specific case?

I thought the hip injury was common knowledge. I guess I was wrong.

It seems Pittsburgh defensive backs coach Carnell Lake spilled the beans Saturday at a Steelers' fantasy camp:

Lake: I can talk about him now that he isn't here. Philly cut him b/c he has a degenerative hip condition: one leg longer than other...(1/2)

"Our Drs didn't pick it up. He could hardly run. I felt bad for him" wow. There ya go.#steelers

— Cocktails-n-Dreams (@CraigScott31) June 4, 2016

Now it makes more sense, right?

But that's not the only reason the Panthers were worried.

According to a team source, comp picks were weighing heavily on their mind when they made the call to cut Boykin.

Other than a statement from a Pittsburgh newspaper I haven't found anything concrete on this. Just articles referencing that he may have a hip injury, which could be a way for a home town reporter to calm the fans that didn't understand why Boykin was cut from the Steelers after having a good year.

I'm still waiting for anything from Panthers on him being injured or now anything from the Bears of him having a hip injury.

There you go. Damm this interwebz thingy is great. Ask a queston. Get an answer. Thanks for your good work there Floppin.

I had forgotten about the comp pick thing. Losing Josh, Gman didn't want to add FAs that could screw with us maybe getting a 3rd for Josh.

That's odd, then why would the Panthers work him out and sign him if he could barely run? Why would the Bears then sign him again? Why wouldn't either team mention his hip injury?

So he was cut for a compensatory pick? I guess this is a rebuild year.
