Lavar Edwards > Kony Ealy

Should have traded or cut Ealy.

Yes lets cut Kony who showed more flashes then Laver Edwards ever did and who also have better career numbers. If we cut Kony that would just be another reason for you to bash Dave and his draft picks. At this point no matter what you would find something to complain about.

I think moves like this actually prove that the story Ron and Co are giving us about evaluating players and cuts coming because of performance is entirely false. Ron will die by his underperforming boys. It's going to be the reason he gets fired.

Dave Gettleman is telling Ron to say it ws because of performance, All of this is ongoing roster shuffling started in the offeseason when D.G. left his brain back in San Fransico.

Edwards hit his very average ceiling, and played hard for us trying to make plays like he had something to play for $$

Kony has much more tools but he hasn't done much at all.

I wonder if guys in the locker room know they won't get paid here.. If you're not Luke or Cam you might as well open the option that you might have to play somewhere else.. Since some guys are all about the bling bling..

There is no evidence to back this statement. Gman has shown he will pay fair market value to players. Josh wanted more that Gman could offer, and Josh was not resigned. KK wanted more than Gman could offer, and he is playing out his contract year, without a long term deal.

Gman paid Cam, Luke, Coleman, Oher, and Olsen all fair market value deals. If you want more than you are worth, I don't blame Gman, cuz I would not pay it either. But to say Gman is not going to pay players is unfair, and speculative.

But hey, this is the Huddle. Where truth is just an obstacle to be skirted around.

No I totally agree. I don't think we should have paid Josh top money either.

But in the NFL I would say a great percentage of players have getting payed over being "loyal" and sticking to a team for the team it self.

Another subject that is interesting is once players get paid and never have to worry about finances again, are they still hungry? Are they waking up at 5 am to deadlift and study playbooks.. do they have that killer instinct when they didn't have to worry about their kids and wives? Once you get money and travel and see how easy some people have it just by chilling on a boat, is it still fun to ram heads with another grown man?

All speculation.

The problem with this is that very good players set the market, especially with the ever increasing salary cap. Josh Norman today is the best cornerback in the NFL, and we let him walk.

It is not a problem, it is the nature of the bidness. Salaries go up, just how it goes. However, there is no data to suggest that Gman will not give a top level player, top level money.

We let Josh walk for basically two reasons, and one mistake. Now this is just my opinion, so don't take it as gospel. First reason, Josh and his agent screwed the pooch. Their inexperience got the best of them. When things were getting bad, Josh and his agent should have had a sit down, refined their strategy, and come back at Gman. Evidently, Josh didn't realize how bad things were. That is his agents fault.

Second reason, Gman should have given them a chance to get their shiit together. Josh was worth waiting a few days, or weeks, to get things worked out. For some reason, Gman seemed to tire of the whole situation, and just rescinded the offer. No reason to get into why? Because only Gman knows, and he ain't saying.

The one mistake? Josh wanting more than we could pay. I don't begrudge him his money. But he HAD to know where our line was. He had to know there was no way we could keep him at his price. He could have told us, thanks for everything, but I gots to go gets my money. We maybe could have had time to address his loss, if only he would have admitted that we could not pay what he wanted.

So there you have it. Josh screwed us by not letting us know, that he knew, that we could not afford him. If he would have admitted that early in the process, we could have done something other than throw 3 draft picks at CB.
