What kind of a record would make Richardson pull the trigger?

Once again, we're two games into the season!

I plan on watching the next 14 panther games, and hopefully a few more before the season winds out. So, I'm just not ready to write them off yet, or the coach, or the quarterback.

Can you really tell me with a straight face that we were problem free until the Philly game and that our problems only started a couple of weeks ago? Fox being fired is well overdue.

1995 7-9

1996 12-4

1997 7-9

1998 4-12 Coach Fired

1999 8-8

2000 7-9

2001 1-15 Coach Fired

2002 7-9

2003 11-5

2004 7-9

2005 11-5

2006 8-8

2007 7-9

2008 12-4

2009 ?

A 7-9 record or better will save Fox, like it or not. I think the standard of the first season has been the measuring stick that Richardson has and will use in deciding about the future of the coaching position. 6-10 record or worse, Fox is gone.

Fox is a good coach and I think there is a good chance he will eventually win a Super Bowl in his career. It could be that the Panthers and fans need to give him more time like Pittsburgh did with Cowher. Or it could be that he needs to change teams like Coughlin did with Jacksonville and New York. Or he could end up like Fisher in Tennesse and never win a Super Bowl with the Panthers.

Personally I think it may be time for Fox to move on but like others have said, just because you bring in a new coach doesn't mean that will translate into a good move. Seifert is a great example of this and firing Fox no matter how you look at it is taking a huge gamble.

He may win a Super Bowl as a coordinator elsewhere, but he will never win one here. The ship has sailed on Fox/Hurney/Delhomme and all three need to be gone next season.

I believe that that anything less than a Wild Card berth should result in termination.

Unfortunately, I think if we do hit 7-9, Fox and Hurney will stay. Then, hopefully we'll have another year in 2010-2011 where we're insanely good because Fox's Panthers are the most inconsistent bunch around.

Looking at this team, what makes you think that they'll even sniff 7-9? The Panthers have looked worse than the Lions so far this season.

Yes, but they are 0-2, as well as the once 10-0 Titans...

the Steelers and Patriots look shaky...

If we can't turn this around by Washington...we're 100% done. And that means Foxy better be gone by years end.

If he gets hired somewhere else, which I'm sure he will, I will honestly respect the man and embrace what he did with us...no matter where he ends up.

I agree. Some of our fans are pathetic. The damn goal of a franchise shouldn't be 7-9 to 9-7 every year. It's disgusting that they're satisfied with mediocrity every year. If you're not competing for Super Bowl trophies, then what you're doing is pointless. We will never win a Super Bowl with John Fox as head coach. For that fact alone, a change should be made.

So the fans that "aren't pathetic" are the ones that quit two games into the year? OK, I've got you now.

When looking at situations, I usually judge by the past. When you have 17 injuries in a season and pull out 7-9 like in '04, then I'm going to say that it's much more possible for it to occur this year under these circumstances . Will it happen? who knows... Why would someone think so? Because Fox, although he struggles to stay consistent, seems to do a good job of getting a team to finish somewhere around .500....

I think anyone saying that fans who have "given up" are to be implied as frail, or pathetic even, isn't looking at the big picture. If this was a new year, or hell, even up to the 3rd or 4th year, then you could throw that implication around as free as you'd like. However, I feel there has been enough time and consistency in Fox's inconsistency and inability to carry a team over the mark from good to exceptional.

People are tired of seeing the same problems on Sunday...

This isnt about the first two games. This is about the last 7 + years under Fox. People are tired of the team being inconsistent. I dont know how anyone can love the panthers and not be sick of this up and down bullshit every single year. I laugh at all these people that keep saying we've never done worse than 7-9. What the hell does that mean? You're saying as long as we dont have double digit losses then we are doing good? Wow! It sounds like Fox has some of you brainwashed too.

it means some of y'all forget how terrible it is to have 10, 12, 15 loss seasons and think it's kinda nice that Fox teams don't quit when they need to pick it up.

Hopefully, they don't trap themselves and give up. Hopefully they pick it up before it's realistically time to worry about an action. Because it's not realistic to worry about it now.

there is no difference between losing 9 games and 10 + games. They are all losing records no matter what. We wouldnt have to keep digging ourselves out of holes if we had a coach that knew how to handle prosperity. Every year we do good we find ourselves in a hole the next.

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
    • In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
