Whose job is more in jeopardy? Rivera's or Gettleman's?

Players are put in positions to fail on that defense. Can't blame them

Sadly, I think there's truth in this.

And cutting Bene obviously helped so very much., so surely cutting MORE starters will really help!  /sarcasm

At various times in the offseason I expressed concern in the discussions here re: lack of OT depth, and lack of a veteran CB once Josh was let go and with Tillman retiring...; also expressed some anxiety that we didn't bring in any DEs to compete with the young guys.

Sadly, all three concerns proved valid.  And I'm just a pretty novice football fan.  Passionate about my team, but not knowing a lot about Xs & Os....

Gettleman took a lot of risks.  We'd all be applauding his genius if they had worked, but they look like they bit him pretty badly.   I don't have a lot of optimism right now....

How is Ron a good head coach ? He has 2 winning seasons out of 5 on his way to another losing season. This is nothing new under Ron we always start of slow. Ron should be fired

I think he is a good player manager. Think he needs a better O coordinator and a better GM. Gettleman messed this up badly and Shula gets the offense off to slow starts each week with his predictable play calling.

So changing your parameters now?

Are you over there jacking it because you proved me technically wrong? Congratulations, one other team bottomed out at 4-12 and then fired their coach that offseason. Go open a window and breathe in some fresh air.

Regardless, Dave Gettleman fuged us.

Neither is in jeopardy.

No I'm not. Can you employ common sense?

Clearly you can't. Losing Norman is a huge loss in its own, add Tillman on top of that and then replacing them with 3 rookies is not much of a gain. Don't forget losing DE skill and depth in Allen hurt too. As much poo as we gave Harper he was an important vet leader for this locker room and him and Coleman were a lot better duo than him and Boston. We lost some solid vets who were also vocal leaders. Oh and don't forget that all-pro CB who consistently shut down half the field and some of the best receivers in the league, he brought all the swag to our team that we thrived on last year.

It would not shock me even a little bit if Gettleman decides to move on from Cam as QB.

He's already demonstrated that he feels threatened by players with great star power, and given how integrated Cam and the coaching staff are with one another, it would be difficult to move on from them.  What happens when the day comes when Gettleman needs another scapegoat to detract from the possibility that he may be a source of blame for the team's problems, and he can't do away with the coaches because of how tethered they and our QB are to one another?

Gettleman has demonstrated that nothing-absolutey nothing-is bigger than his own legacy or ambitions.

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
