Anybody else losing interest in the NFL?

Big Sports leagues have to have, and maintain, accountability and consistency. The same thing is happening with me regarding the NFL that has happened already to a much greater extent with NASCAR.

If you can't count on the league and officials to make fair, consistent rulings, the integrity of the sport/league are gone and it becomes no better than other scripted entertainment outlets.

NASCAR lost me when they started making huge format and rule changes on the fly, sometimes mid-season. It became obvious when their retarded formats would backfire and a popular driver would get left out, so they'd just change the rules to let them continue to be relevant. They pass regulations without looking at all of the possible outcomes and it bites them in the ass. Also letting a driver run half a season and still be championship eligible is a joke.

What is bad for one player/driver/team has to be applied to everyone. Some of the calls this year have been so damn bad, and not just Panther games (Hello, Cleveland). Different players getting different treatments for the same fouls. It has to be fair, or it's junk. I know refs have been biased and blind in the past, it just seems to me some of the stuff they are pulling lately is just way too obvious to be an accident. The NFL's refusal to come out and admit there's a people is the icing on the cake.

tldr: fug you Roger Goodell, and Brian France can eat a bag of dicks.

Haven't completely thought through this, as I have been mainly thinking about why I haven't enjoyed it more....but there may be a few other reasons we haven't listed here.

1:  Maybe we aren't the couch potatoes we used to be, and want to be doing stuff rather than sit through 9 hours of football from the couch on Sundays.

2:  Attention span.  It's getting shorter by the minute.

3:  Working hours and the middle class being squeezed.  Not everyone works M-F/9-5 any longer.  Much of what's left of the middle class (the NFL's most desired audience) is working on Sundays, or working so much they may feel guilty "wasting" a Sunday off instead of spending time with family or friends.

I think you're onto something. I really feel shitty if I sit around all day Sunday and watch NFL. It would probably help if half of the league wasn't terrible though. Perfect storm brewing right now

I have lost all ability to watch football games that do not involve the Panthers or UNC.  Even with them, my interest has dropped dramatically with the exception of last season when both were inexplicably good.

Part of me blames soccer.  I always enjoyed it but as TV coverage has reached the point where I can watch it all the time watching football just seems more and more pointless.  With soccer I know when the game starts and when it ends.  The only commercials I will have to endure are at halftime and there are no huddles or kneeling to end the game (the dumbest thing in sports imo).  It is to the point where watching football, where there is eleven minutes of action in 3 1/2 hours is excrutiating.  For reasons passing understanding, I have never felt bored with baseball where some of the same complaints could apply.

As others have mentioned there is also the CTE thing.  More and more I have a moral dilemma watching this game.  I feel the same way about college FB and BB where the universities get loads of cash and the players nothing.  It just feels wrong and in both cases is tougher to ignore.

I also blame HBOGO and to a lesser extent Netflix.  TV is just so damn good now that it has sucked interest away from a lot of other things for me.

But I will be honest, at this point I would rather watch two random Rubgy or Aussie rules teams play than Broncos-Patriots, even though I only partially understand what is happening.  The reason?  No huddles or commercials.

For sure losing interest. Sundays used to be clear of plans to watch at least 2 games. First of all living in a beautiful place helps forgetting about it once you step outside and do something.. Its sad because the NFL did this, not me.

And for sureeee not looking forward to pre new year basketball. NBA is only fun for the playoffs that last 2 months. Just as much divas and oh what reffffff I didnt do that foul wah wah..

another reason could be the south hasnt even seen an inch of cold weather yet. The appalacians only show color at 5000 or above feet for fall changing.. The past few panther games have been too hot to play football. We look damn out of shape and not as strong as other teams but the humiidity and sun is killer.

I lost interest in the NBA years ago and haven't looked back the NFL is starting to feel he same to me not only because the Panthers aren't playing as well as they should but how we lost the Super Bowl was a big slap in the face it's clear to me now the NFL has an agenda and the Panthers have never been a part of it

I have lost interest in the NBA it's rigged as well..You just can't tell me a person that could shoot the ball from the locker way entrance can't even make 1 out of 12 shots..I have been saying that it was rigged before that tho..So I stopped watching now...NFL is no different and maybe Cam sees it too maybe the whole teams sees it and just showing up for checks except a few players.  It's hard watching the game..with so many stupid penalties such as excitement for making a good play or TD. When headshot, leg whips are just being ignored...it's not fun to watch..I sit and look now for how many illegal hits, or celebration flags now..not really the game itself...get tired of adding suppose to be relaxing no math involved...It's comical and headache at the same time but not really joyful like it use to be cant tell what's a catch or what's a good hit anymore..when i start having to analyze and look up NFL  rules you know it's time to stop watching

loll,

Panthers 1-4 "I'm losing interest in the NFL"

Panthers 5-0 "The NFL is the best I've ever seen"

My interesting in the NFL  was limited even before week 1.    I lost interest in the preseason when it became clear this season would be about shitting on our flag  and trying to use the NFL platform  as a way to discuss social issues.            Personally,  I can't bring myself to support  a company that shits on our flag.     That's just me.
