Anybody else losing interest in the NFL?

Sometimes less is more. All sports are too saturated.  College football and hoops have the best set up for tv. The rest is constantly on and yeah so is college football shows but it's literally overkill.

At the end of the day, the wallet is mightier than the sword or pen.

Haven't completely thought through this, as I have been mainly thinking about why I haven't enjoyed it more....but there may be a few other reasons we haven't listed here.

1:  Maybe we aren't the couch potatoes we used to be, and want to be doing stuff rather than sit through 9 hours of football from the couch on Sundays.

2:  Attention span.  It's getting shorter by the minute.

3:  Working hours and the middle class being squeezed.  Not everyone works M-F/9-5 any longer.  Much of what's left of the middle class (the NFL's most desired audience) is working on Sundays, or working so much they may feel guilty "wasting" a Sunday off instead of spending time with family or friends.

i think oversaturation is an issue too, as others have brought up.  the thursday night games usually suck from a fan standpoint and i've heard nothing else other than that the players hate them.  monday night football is a shell of itself.

like it wasn't that long ago that i'd see the latest column by dr. z or peter king (lmao) or a new season preview, set of expert picks, or power rankings show up on CBS, ESPN, etc. and my pulse would tick up in the hopes of seeing some kind of reference or angle on my beloved panthers.  i used to even read pete prisco's poo.  now i don't even remember the last time i even read, let alone cared about, an article written by some sportswriter on a major site.

I'm just spitballing again, but also add in more options for entertainment.

Netflix

4,512 network channels

Hulu

Twitter

Youtube

Instagram

Facebook

PS4/XBox 1

Etc......

Way back in the day, football owned the TV sets on Sunday and Monday night.....and they may still, but there are just so many other things to waste time on.

nah. it's just a dropoff from last year. much like a 17-2 record, it's hard to match last year's neverending hype, game parties, roaring riot meetups, and the general magic of kicking everyone's asses.

plus we're losing. hard to get hyped about that.

definitely not losing interest though

I am! I've been a Panthers fan since 03'.

I just smiled when we lost the SB in Feb. NFL is a joke now. They gave Peyton a goodbye present. Like I said in another thread, that ain't the first time. They did it Jerome Bettis (Detroit) and Ray Lewis.

Sports is a joke these days. You watch the NBA lottery and you will realize it: Cleveland/LBJ.

Las Vega$ gotta make its money. People are betting on Carolina and Arizona this season and look what's happening.

LA and Minneosta are winning games bc of a new stadium and relocation. Thy gotta make sure fans come back next season. San Diego will start to win games when they decided to relocate.

SB51 is pretty much Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.

It's the same ending every weekend in the NFL: 4th quarter comeback or a game winning FG!!!!!!

Ive played sports all my life growing up. Let me tell you how many times I've been in a 4th quarter comeback or penalty shootout, NOT A DAMN LOT. Either one team get blown and stay blown out or a tight game from start till the end. There ain't no down by 21 points comeback.
