Anybody else losing interest in the NFL?

What if you lost interest in losing interest?

Whoa

The NFL needs to do a few things.

Don't play MNF and TNF until week 8. Flex every other Sun or Mon game so you give NBC and ESPN equal shot at quality games.  The lack of early flexibility kills the games. This allows interest level to go up.

Some people are up in arms about the no fun league and yeah ok. I don't have to see synchronized dances after every td or something for a sack or first down. I don't mind some show of emotions and if anything just say you got 10 secs after a td to do your thing or it's 10 yds penalty.

Some are up in arms over the anthem.  Just get rid of it. That's what many want anyway and we got people offended over stuff at the drop of a hat so just do what schools do who use to rent their gyms to various religious groups for hoops. Enough people cried about that and so cash strapped schools just stopped opening their gym after hours.

Now the quality of play is a whole other subject and good luck with that.

I'd say people have grown tired of using what little left over hard earned cash they have gets sucked away by sports and movies that end up in the hands of the uber rich. Why not save your money and go outdoors and keep your sanity?

Opening night at Denver I was as hyped up as usual. But after the Vikings game, I realized that last year was last year, and this year is everything but that. Ron and his crew have not adjusted one bit during the off-season, while knowing that the opposition would do exactly that. I mean,  at least try to adjust. Everyone knew what worked last year would not work this season, Wade Phillips practically ruined that for us. Ron spent time in the off-season seaking advice on how to avoid the Super Bowl slump. Instead of thinking that the mindset of the players was the biggest hurdle for another SB run, he should have realized that his non existing willingness to adjust and evolve would become the main factor.

Mike Shula and Ron Rivera must be the least open minded coaches in the NFL, sticking to the same old style no matter what. On the defensive side of the ball, the loss of Josh is not the biggest factor in my opinion. Do anyone remeber how our guys on the defensive side of the ball came out and destroyed the Seahawks and Cardinals in the playoffs!? The passion and hunger the players showed in that game is totally gone. Complacency? Propably. Loss of swagger? Most definitely

I've not lost interest in the PANTHERS,, ( if you type Panthers in CAPS , it make  me believe how much I like them lol )   But I can't watch much  of other teams.

I scoreboard watch,,  seeing who we want to lose to better our cause.  That has now become all teams ( not named Cleveland/ Chicago , who we lead by a full game )    We need everyone to lose, and sometimes they play one another :)

GOOO  PANTHERS   ( more CAPS )

There are so many issues that are making it hard to watch the league.  I still watch the Panthers, but even interest in them is fading.  I feel like I may just have headphones for the radio feed this week, and actually do something fun with my family in the beautiful fall weather while we can.

I hear ya. It really depends on the storyline of the season. Last season was so entertaining since it had so much suspense. We were THE team to beat (undefeated until week 16), OBJ's electrifying plays until his encounter with J-No and b/c of the possibility of it being Peyton Manning's last season. This season? Eh, not that much to look forward to. It just really depends on what's going on in the league and so far, nothing but depressing stories. Plus, the same ol' teams are winning (Gaytriots, Steelers, Broncos, Packers etc). *snore*

Stupid thread but it's what I've come to expect from the huddle

I very much disagree...  Its a great topic...  People are getting sick of player attitudes(showing off after a common tackle), they are sick of poor officiating, now with the political crap, lots of stupid rules....  They better be careful not to follow NASCAR when it comes to running off fans...  I'm too busy to really type it all out....

Strangely, I just don't have the passion for it any longer.  Fantasy, Panthers, rest of the NFL....any of it.

Maybe I'm just getting old, or I've been saturated....I'm just not sure.  I have noticed this over the last couple years though...I watched almost every game back in the day, now there is just more important/fun stuff to do.

In my opinion....

1) Terrible officiating.  It gets worse every year.  Combined with some questionable games over the past 10 years (not some, actually, a good bit) you can't help but think there is funny business going on.   The number of people believing this has grown quite a bit every year.    The Superbowl was one of the worst ref jobs I've ever seen and a lot of non-Panther fans agreed.  It continued into the first game with Denver, and well, it's kind of hard to care if the refs are going to lean one way.

2) The CTE thing.  I think people are just starting to feel guilty watching these guys kill themselves.  Concussions all over the place and what we're learning about all this, more and more, has people questioning the sport.   Less kids will be playing because their parents will not let them, etc.

3) This is my opinion, but, watching something like the MLB playoffs, I feel like NFL players just have less care/fun than some other sports and it shows.   The NFL is too big for itself and is too much about money and you can tell a lot of the players seem to be there just for the money, period.  You'll find some guys like Norman that legit care about winning, Cam/Luke, etc but I think a large chunk just doesn't care.   Whereas a sport like baseball, most of these guys put in 5-6 years to just get to the majors and are just having more fun out there.   I think the NFL, over the last 10 years, has just became a straight, business only thing.   Goodell has made the owners tons of money but I wonder if that is going to start to decline because it's just not fun, for anyone, like it was.

    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
